  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Toughs out injuries against Detroit

Jones carried the ball 18 tines for 53 yards and a touchdown and caught three of four targets for 10 yards in the Vikings' 23-10 win over the Lions on Christmas Day.

The veteran running back headed into the blue medical tent late in the second quarter to be checked for a left leg injury, per Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune, but Jones was back in the lineup on the Vikings' first possession after halftime. Jacons' one-yard TD plunge in the first quarter was his first score since Week 10, and just his second rushing touchdown of the season. He's seen a bigger workload the last two weeks while Jordan Mason (ankle) has been sidelined, gaining 156 yards from scrimmage on 44 touches, and with Minnesota having nothing to play for in Week 18, there may not be much incentive to push Mason back into action in the regular-season finale against the Packers.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Stays limited Tuesday

The Vikings listed Jones (ankle) as a limited participant in Tuesday's walk-through practice.

Jones has yet to turn in a full practice this week, but so long as he maintains at least limited participation Wednesday, he should be in good shape to play Thursday against the Lions. In this past Sunday's 16-13 win over the Giants, Jones earned a season-high 23 touches and accounted for 93 yards from scrimmage. He was aided by Jordan Mason's early exit due to an ankle injury, and with Mason having yet to practice this week, Jones could be in store for another elevated workload against Detroit.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Set to play Thursday

Jones (ankle) doesn't have a designation for Thursday's game against the Lions.

Jones played through an in-game ankle injury this past Sunday at the Giants and paced the Vikings backfield with 23 touches for 93 yards from scrimmage. His season-high touch count was aided by the fact that fellow RB Jordan Mason was knocked out with an ankle issue of his own, and Mason won't be available to the offense Thursday. As a result, Jones is in line to handle a workhorse role again in Week 17, with Zavier Scott and Ty Chandler serving as the options at the position behind him.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Limited on Monday's estimate

Jones (ankle) was listed as limited on Monday's practice estimate, Craig Peters of the Vikings' official site reports.

Jones exited in the first quarter of Sunday's 16-13 win over the Giants with an ankle injury, but he subsequently returned en route to carrying 21 times for 85 yards and catching two of his three targets for eight yards. His listed limitations Monday are likely maintenance-related, and at this stage there's nothing to suggest that Jones will miss Thursday's game against the Lions. Meanwhile, fellow RB Jordan Mason, who didn't return to Sunday's contest after sustaining an ankle injury, was listed as a non-participant Monday.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Season-high 21 carries in win

Jones (ankle) rushed 21 times for 85 yards and caught two of three targets for eight yards in Sunday's 16-13 win over the Giants.

Jones injured his ankle in the first quarter but came back into the game after fellow running back Jordan Mason (ankle) exited the game entirely. If Jones plays Thursday against the Lions, he could be in for another hefty workload for a Vikings offense that may be without starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy (hand), who also left in the first half. Third-string running back Zavier Scott finished with 12 yards on three touches while Jones set season highs with 23 touches and 85 rushing yards. Jones has frequently dealt with in-game injuries this season, but he's handled double-digit touches in each of his last eight outings and reached 65 scrimmage yards in three consecutive games.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Hurts ankle in Week 16

Jones sustained an ankle injury during Sunday's contest at the Giants.

Fellow RB Jordan Mason also exited with an ankle injury, but while Mason needed a cart to leave the field, according to Alec Lewis of The Athletic, Jones was spotted jogging on the sideline, per Lewis. Zavier Scott took over the Vikings backfield to kick off their second drive of the game.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Back in Sunday's game

Jones (ankle) returned to Sunday's game against the Giants, Ben Goessling of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

While Jones is back in the contest after having exited it, fellow RB Jordan Mason, who also sustained an ankle injury Sunday, has been ruled out for the remainder of Week 16 action. In that context, Zavier Scott is available to handle complementary backfield snaps for the Vikings.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Gains 65 yards on 15 touches

Jones took 12 carries for 34 yards while catching all three of his targets for 31 yards in Sunday's 34-26 win over the Cowboys.

Jones has been limited in recent practice weeks with a nagging shoulder injury picked up back in Week 9, but it has yet to affect the veteran's workload or status once game days roll around. Backup Jordan Mason (10-29-0) continues to split backfield duties with Jones, giving both runners modest fantasy value as flex options on a weekly basis. It wouldn't be surprising to see Jones limited in practice again in Week 16, but managers should prepare to deploy Minnesota's veteran starter in a plus matchup against the Giants next Sunday.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Good to go

Jones (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.

Jones has been playing through the same shoulder injury since Week 9 while picking up a couple of other minor injuries along the way. It's only the shoulder impacting him at this point, and it's not enough to threaten his status for Week 15. Jones has 67 touches over the past five games, compared to 37 touches for No. 2 RB Jordan Mason.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Limited again Thursday

Jones (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday.

Jones has operated with practice restrictions more often than not since he suffered a shoulder injury Week 9 in Detroit. He's still led the Vikings backfield most weeks in the meantime, earning 67 touches to Jordan Mason's 37 over the last five games. Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not Jones enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at Dallas.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Remains limited at practice

Jones (shoulder) was limited at practice Wednesday, Emily Leiker of The Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

Jones has been bothered by a shoulder injury since getting hurt Week 9 at Detroit, but he's suited up for each of the Vikings' ensuing five contests, totaling 67 touches for 308 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD. Meanwhile, No. 2 RB Jordan Mason has turned 37 touches into 218 total yards and two rushing TDs during that same span. Friday's practice report will reveal whether or not Jones enters the weekend with a designation for Sunday's game at Dallas.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Leading rusher in Sunday's win

Jones carried the ball 14 times for 76 yards and failed to catch his only target in Sunday's 31-0 win over the Commanders.

The Vikings' backfield was a near-even split between Jones and Jordan Mason, but the latter was able to get into the end zone in the second quarter on one of his 11 carries. Jones hasn't scored a TD himself in four straight games, amassing 190 rushing yards on 45 totes over that stretch while adding a 10-49-0 line on 15 targets, but he'll be in good position to end that drought in Week 15 versus a vulnerable Cowboys defense.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Cleared to play

Jones (shoulder) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against Washington.

This will be the second time this year that Jones exited a game with an injury and didn't return but then came back to play the next week. He handled his normal workload the previous time, and he's generally been well ahead of Jordan Mason since returning from a multi-week absence in September/October.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Limited again Thursday

Jones (shoulder) was a limited practice participant Thursday.

Jones thus far has had a cap on his reps to begin Week 14 prep due to the shoulder issue that caused an early departure from this past Sunday's defeat in Seattle. He's been listed with shoulder injuries on Vikings practice reports since Week 10, but he's been able to suit up each of the last four games, notching 53 touches for 232 yards from scrimmage and one rushing TD during that span. Jones' status will continue to be watched as the weekend approaches to see how he'll be listed ahead of Sunday's game versus the Commanders. Jordan Mason is on hand to handle a full workload if Jones is unable to.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Logs limited practice

Jones (shoulder) practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday.

Jones made an early exit from this past Sunday's defeat in Seattle due to a shoulder injury, but Adam Schefter of ESPN reported Monday that the Vikings don't consider it to be serious, and the running back will be considered day-to-day. Opening Week 14 prep with at least some drills generally is a good sign that Jones at least has a chance to be available Sunday versus the Commanders, but how he fares Thursday and/or Friday likely will determine if he has a designation for that contest or is ruled out ahead of time.

  • Vikings' Aaron Jones: Day-to-day with shoulder injury

The Vikings don't consider Jones' shoulder injury to be severe, and he's day-to-day, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Jones sustained a shoulder injury on a lost fumble in the middle of the third quarter of Sunday's loss at Seattle and wasn't able to return, finishing Week 13 with six carries for three yards and four catches (on four targets) for 22 yards. He's been playing through a shoulder issue since Week 10, so his ability to suit up and what kind of workload he can hold moving forward may come down to pain management. Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott are the next players up out of Minnesota's backfield if Jones cedes any reps or ultimately is inactive Sunday against the Commanders.
