WATCH: Blackhawks' Jonathan Toews pulls off impressive trick shot
Blackhawks forward Jonathan Toews shows off his new hockey stick with an impressive trick shot at a water bottle's expense.
Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews may be one of the league’s best two-way forwards and he scores plenty, but he’s not known as one of the league’s great snipers. He still can shoot a puck with laser-like accuracy though.
To prove it, the folks at Bauer had Toews perform a trick shot to show off his accuracy and the company’s new Nexus 1N stick.
The premise for the trick shot is simple enough. Toews was to pop the water bottle off the net and take another shot to hit the bottle on the way down. Sounds simple, but shooting at a moving target that isn’t all that big immediately after following through on another shot takes plenty of focus and coordination.
Of course, Toews nailed it.
Unfortunately, nowadays goalies don't put their water bottles on top of the nets anymore so we don't get those water-bottle-popping snipes anymore. The little holder on the back of the net is better for goalie hydration, but not as good for adding an exclamation point to highlight-reel snipes.
I guess we'll just have to settle for tick-shot videos instead. We'll live.
