Bongiovanni was traded to the Capitals from the Senators on Friday in exchange for Graeme Clarke, per PuckPedia.
Bongiovanni will get a fresh start in the Capitals' organization and is expected to play with AHL Hershey. Prior to the trade, he had 25 points in 54 outings with AHL Belleville, down from 33 points in 54 contests for the same team a year ago.

Bongiovanni scored a goal and added two assists in AHL Belleville's 6-5 overtime loss to Rochester on Sunday.
Bongiovanni logged just his fourth multi-point effort of the season. He entered Sunday with just one assist over his previous five outings. Bongiovanni is up to 10 goals, 18 points and a minus-2 rating through 36 appearances this season. The 26-year-old will probably spend most or all of the rest of the campaign with Belleville.

His offense has steadily grown bit-by-bit as a professional, and the 26-year-old could be a call-up option for the Senators if he continues to display a strong scoring touch in the AHL.

Senators' Wyatt Bongiovanni: Back with Sens
Bongiovanni signed a one-year, two-way deal with the Senators on Tuesday, PuckPedia reports.
Bongiovanni has returned to the Senators after scoring 22 goals and 11 assists in 54 regular-season games with AHL Belleville last year. The 25-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut, but he'll get a chance to continue to develop with the Senators at the minor-league level.
