Islanders' Victor Eklund: Sent down to minors
Eklund was reassigned to AHL Bridgeport on Wednesday.
Eklund made his NHL debut versus the Hurricanes on Tuesday, producing his first NHL point. Looking ahead to the 2026-27 campaign, Eklund should have the inside track to securing a spot on the Opening Night roster, though he could also be moved to the minors to ensure he gets minutes in a more prominent role.

Islanders' Victor Eklund: Logs assist in NHL debut
Eklund posted an assist, two shots on goal and two hits in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Hurricanes.
This was Eklund's NHL debut after he spent seven games with AHL Bridgeport. He had nine points in those contests. Eklund's scoring skill has translated well since he came over from the SHL in March, and he'll be in contention for an NHL job in 2026-27.

Islanders' Victor Eklund: Called up from minors
Eklund was promoted from AHL Bridgeport on Tuesday.
Eklund, along with Liam Foudy, has presumably been added to the NHL roster in order to suit up in the season finale versus Carolina on Tuesday. After coming over from Sweden in late March, the 19-year-old winger has logged seven games for AHL Bridgeport in which he has tallied two goals and seven helpers. If he can show that level of offensive upside at training camp in the fall, Eklund should have a good chance of making the 2026-27 Opening Night roster.

Islanders' Victor Eklund: Adjusting well to AHL
Eklund notched three assists in AHL Bridgeport's 4-2 win over Hartford on Friday.
Eklund has already earned six assists over his first four AHL games after returning from his loan with Djurgardens in the SHL. The 19-year-old is a quality playmaker and can contribute in a variety of ways. Eklund may still need a couple of years to become a fantasy option, but the potential is there in the long run.

Islanders' Victor Eklund: Gets 20th point in SHL
Eklund scored a goal in Djurgardens' 4-1 win over Lulea in the SHL on Saturday.
Eklund has 20 points in 40 games as a 19-year-old in the SHL this season. While it's no surprise his offense has dipped a bit compared to last year in the second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan (31 points in 42 outings), Eklund has still proven himself pretty well. He's under contract with the Islanders, and Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reported Friday that the young winger will come to North America in 2026-27.

Islanders' Victor Eklund: Reaches 15-point mark in SHL
Eklund scored a goal in Djurgardens' 2-1 win over Farjestad on Thursday in the SHL.
Eklund is up to three goals and 15 points over 33 outings in his first SHL season. The Islanders prospect also had eight points in seven games for Sweden at the World Junior Championship. The winger's lack of goals shouldn't be a concern considering the strength and defensive reputation of the SHL, though it'll be interesting to see if he can grow his offense in the latter part of the season.
