Commanders' Matthew Ioannidis: Release incoming

The Commanders plan to release Ioannidis on Wednesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Washington first attempted to find a trade partner for Ioannidis, per Rapoport, but the team apparently found little interest in the veteran defensive tackle. Ioannidis, who notched just 2.5 sacks in 16 appearances last season, should have more appeal as a free agent now that he's not attached to a pricey contract.
