Brogdon and Robert Williams were traded to Portland by Boston on Sunday in exchange for Jrue Holiday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports. Brogdon's tumultuous offseason with Boston officially ends with a departure. Brogdon was nearly traded to the Clippers this summer as part of a package deal for Kristaps Porzingis, but the point guard's ongoing elbow issue forced Los Angeles out of the deal. It appeared the Celtics and Brogdon were both content moving forward with their partnership to start training camp, making the deal quite surprising. The Trail Blazers are excited about their current backcourt rotation, which is expected to be led by rookie first-round pick Scoot Henderson and Anfernee Simons, so the 30-year-old Brogdon profiles as a veteran backup. It's also possible Brogdon is dealt again, as he currently doesn't fit Portland's rebuilding roster and could help the Trail Blazers obtain more assets for the future.... See More ... See Less

Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Healthy to start training camp
Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens said Tuesday that Brogdon is completely healthy heading into training camp, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reports. It was reported that Brogdon may need offseason surgery to repair a partial tendon tear in his right elbow/forearm, but he was ultimately able to clear the issue on his own and should be full go for training camp. There was also concern that Brogdon had grown disgruntled with the organization after nearly being traded, but the point guard appears to have put that issue behind him as well. With Marcus Smart no longer in the picture, there should be more minutes in the backcourt available for Brogdon in 2023-24, but Derrick White will still be Boston's starting point guard.... Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: May need offseason surgery
Brogdon said Monday after the Celtics' 103-84 loss to the Heat in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals that he may require offseason surgery to address a partial tendon tear in his right elbow/forearm, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports. Brogdon reportedly suffered the injury in Game 1 of the series and proceeded to shoot 20 percent from the field while averaging 3.0 points per game in his remaining five appearances against the Heat. He ended up sitting out the Celtics' Game 6 win and was available only in a limited capacity for Game 7, playing just seven minutes. The injury resulted in a disappointing finish to what was a successful season overall for Brogdon, who took home the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year Award after averaging 14.9 points, 4.2 boards, 3.7 assists and 2.0 three-pointers in 26.0 minutes per game over 67 appearances during the regular season. He's on the Celtics' books for two more seasons and carries cap hits of $22.5 million for both years.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Upgraded to available
Brogdon (elbow/forearm) has been upgraded to available for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus Miami on Monday, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports. Brogdon has been playing through a partial tear in his right elbow that leads into his forearm since Game 1 versus Miami. Despite the injury, the 2023 NBA Sixth Man of the Year was able to play his usual role in the first two matchups, posting 16.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.0 blocks in 31.5 minutes per game, but he was a non-factor for Games 3-5 before taking a seat for Game 6. There's no guarantee Brogdon plays heavy minutes in the critical Game 7, but his availability should be a positive boost to Boston's bench, which scored just 11 points during the Game 6 win.... Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Expected to play
Brogdon (forearm) is expected to play in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus Miami on Monday, Marc J. Spears of ESPN.com reports. Brogdon missed Boston's Game 6 win due to a right forearm strain, but he was spotted getting shots up Monday morning during shootaround while wearing an elbow sleeve and will likely be available for the critical Game 7. The backup point guard scored in double figures in each of the first two matchups of the series, averaging 31.5 minutes per game, but he totaled just two points over his next three appearances before sitting out.... Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Iffy for Monday
Brogdon (forearm) is listed as questionable for Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals against the Heat on Monday. Brogdon participated in the shootaround before Game 6, but he ultimately sat out the Celtics' 104-103 win. If available Monday, Brogdon could be in store for a limited role behind backcourt starters Derrick White and Marcus Smart. Through his five appearances in the series, Brogdon has shot just 33.3 percent from the field and has averaged 6.8 points, 2.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 21.2 minutes per contest.... See More ... Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Will miss Game 6
Brogdon (forearm) is out for Saturday's Game 6 versus the Heat, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. Brogdon had been playing through a forearm strain for most of the Eastern Conference Finals but appeared to aggravate the injury in Game 5 and will end up missing Game 6 due to the issue. In his absence, Marcus Smart and Derrick White will handle the bulk of the backcourt minutes, while Payton Pritchard could see more action off the bench. If the Celtics pull out a win Saturday, Brogdon could be back in action for Game 7 on Monday.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Deemed questionable for Saturday
Brogdon is questionable for Saturday's Game 6 against the Heat due to a right forearm strain. Brogdon has been playing through a partially torn tendon in his elbow in recent matchups and exited Thursday's Game 5 win early due to the injury. He's been diagnosed with a right forearm strain, and it's unclear whether he'll be available Saturday as the Celtics attempt to force a Game 7 in the Eastern Conference Finals. Brogdon has averaged just 0.7 points and 2.3 rebounds in 14.3 minutes per game over the past three matchups, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him face some limitations if he's able to suit up Saturday.... Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Hampered in victory
Brogdon (elbow) ended Thursday's 110-97 victory over the Heat in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals with zero points (0-2 FG, 0-2 3Pt) across eight minutes. Brogdon was given the all-clear to play Thursday but was far from healthy and was forced out of the game at one point. In fact, he failed to score in just eight minutes of action, a true sign that his injury could be more significant than initially thought.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Doubtful to return
Brogdon (forearm) is doubtful to return to Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus the Heat on Thursday. Brogdon has been playing through a partially torn tendon in his elbow that results in pain throughout his right forearm. He wasn't 100 percent coming into Thursday, and it appears he won't be able to close out this game. If he misses additional time, the Celtics will rely heavily on Marcus Smart and Derrick White.... Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Good to go for Game 5
Brogdon (forearm) will play in Thursday's Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus Miami. As expected, Brogdon will take the floor for Game 5 after it was revealed he's been playing through a partially torn tendon in his right arm. Though he hasn't missed any time due to the issue and has been absent from the injury report as of late, he was hampered by the injury in Games 3 and 4. Over those games, Brogdon averaged 1.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists in 17.5 minutes and will likely not be at 100 percent for Thursday's tilt.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Dealing with partially torn tendon
Brogdon has been playing through a partially torn tendon in his elbow that reaches down to his right forearm, Jared Weiss of The Athletic reports. Brogdon popped up on the injury report for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals with what was called a strained right forearm but managed to suit up and play 26 minutes. Though he hasn't made an appearance on the Celtics' injury report since, it's now being reported that he's been playing through a partially torn tendon in his right arm, which could indicate why he has seen only 18 and 17 minutes in Games 3 and 4, respectively. Prior to Game 3, Brogdon had played 20 or more minutes in every game dating back to Feb. 10, making the restricted playing time uncharacteristic. Though it's assumed Brogdon will continue to play through the issue, he may remain limited in both playing time and productivity.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Upgraded to available
Brogdon (forearm) has been upgraded to available for Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals versus Miami on Friday, Keith Smith of Spotrac.com reports. As expected, Brogdon will suit up despite dealing with a right forearm strain. The backup point guard led Boston's bench in scoring during the Game 1 loss, posting 19 points across 37 minutes.... Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Probable for Game 2
Brogdon is probable for Friday's Game 2 against the Heat due to a right forearm strain. Brogdon was productive during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday, leading the team's bench players with 19 points in 37 minutes. Although he's dealing with a forearm injury ahead of Friday's matchup, he'll likely be able to suit up in Game 2.... See More ... See Less -

Brogdon led all bench players in scoring and minutes played in Wednesday's Game 1 loss at home against Miami, finishing one point shy of reaching the 20-point mark. Brogdon, who hauled in his playoff-high rebound total this postseason, has tallied at least 15 points and five rebounds in two of his last three outings.... See More ... See Less -
Celtics' Malcolm Brogdon: Steps up in Game 2
Brogdon closed with 23 points (7-15 FG, 6-10 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, two assists and one block across 24 minutes during Wednesday's 121-87 victory over the 76ers in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Jayson Tatum had an off night Wednesday, but Brogdon stepped up, and the veteran ended as Boston's second-best scorer, trailing only Jaylen Brown and his 25-point effort. Brogdon has the potential to be an X Factor in the series against the Sixers and he has shown it thus far, scoring at least 20 points in both games. He's also scored in double digits in seven straight playoff contests while averaging 27.6 minutes per game off the bench.... See More ... See Less -
