Colts' Gardner Minshew: Returning to backup duties
Minshew will return to the No. 2 quarterback role for Sunday's game against the Rams with Anthony Richardson (concussion) having been cleared to start the Week 4 contest, JJ Stankevitz of the Colts' official site reports.
Minshew performed admirably in his two games (one start) of action after Richardson sustained the concussion in the Colts' Week 2 win over the Texans. The 27-year-old completed 46 of 67 pass attempts for 398 yards and two touchdowns, preserving the win over Houston and then guiding the Colts to an overtime win over the Ravens in Week 3. Minshew remains one of the best backups in the NFL.

Colts' Gardner Minshew: Leads Colts to OT win
Minshew completed 27 of 44 passes for 227 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions in Sunday's 22-19 overtime win against the Ravens.
Minshew drew a spot start with Anthony Richardson (concussion) sidelined. He had an unremarkable 5.2 yards per attempt to post a mediocre stat line, but he was effective for the Colts as he kept the team in the game and didn't turn the ball over. It's likely that Richardson will pass through concussion protocol ahead of a Week 4 matchup against the Rams, meaning Minshew would shift back to the bench.

Colts' Gardner Minshew: Will start against Baltimore
With Anthony Richardson (concussion) ruled out for Week 3, Minshew will start Sunday against the Ravens, Kevin Bowen of the Colts' official site reports.
After Richardson was injured on his 18th snap against the Texans in Week 2, Minshew came on in relief and completed a crisp 19 of 25 passes (76 percent) for 171 yards and one touchdown, guiding the Colts across the finish line for the victory. Minshew is one of the league's most capable backups, and while Week 3 presents a much tougher task on the road in Baltimore, the veteran signal-caller does represent a lineup option for those who roster Richardson or who are otherwise in need of a QB fill-in this weekend.
