  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Set to play Thursday

Lafreniere (illness) is slated to play in Thursday's game against the Sabres, Vince Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic reports. Lafreniere missed Wednesday's practice session due to an illness, but he participated in Thursday's optional morning skate and should be good to suit up without missing game action. Across his last six appearances, Lafreniere has recorded two goals, four assists, seven blocked shots, three hits and two PIM while averaging 18:09 of ice time.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Dealing with illness

Lafreniere will not practice Wednesday due to an illness, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports. Lafreniere has generated two goals and four assists, including a pair of power-play points, in his last six outings. Once J.T. Miller (upper body) is cleared to return, the 24-year-old Lafreniere could be dropped from a top-six role, which will limit his chances of continuing to produce at a high level.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Nets power-play goal

Lafreniere score a power-play goal on three shots in Monday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Mammoth. Lafreniere has a goal and three assists over two contests in January, with two of those points coming on the power play. It could be another small burst of offense for the winger -- he's earned just one point streak of at least three games this season, but he's in a top-six role that could lead to more sustained success. Overall, he's at nine goals, 24 points (four on the power play), 86 shots on net, 62 hits, 30 blocked shots and a minus-8 rating over 44 appearances.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Trio of helpers in outdoor win

Lafreniere notched three assists, two shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 5-1 win over the Panthers in the Winter Classic. Lafreniere has a trio of multi-point efforts over the last 13 games, racking up two goals and six assists in that span. The 24-year-old had a hand in the Rangers' first three goals in this Winter Classic, showing excellent chemistry with Mika Zibanejad (three goals, two assists) and Artemi Panarin (two goals, one assist). For the season, Lafreniere has eight goals, 15 helpers, 83 shots on net, 61 hits, 30 blocked shots and a minus-7 rating over 43 outings, putting him on pace for similar numbers to last year's 45-point effort in 82 regular-season contests.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Puts up pair of points

Lafreniere scored a goal on two shots, dished an assist and blocked two shots in Sunday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Golden Knights. Lafreniere and Mika Zibanejad set up each other's goals in the second period. The 24-year-old Lafreniere now has three points over his last two outings, and Sunday's multi-point effort was his first such game since Nov. 10 versus the Predators. For the season, Lafreniere has seven goals, 17 points, 61 shots on net, 55 hits, 18 blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 31 appearances. He should continue to fill a top-six role.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Tallies empty-netter

Lafreniere scored an empty-net goal on three shots and added three hits in Friday's 6-2 win over the Bruins. The Bruins started to make a push in the third period, but the Rangers held them off long enough for Lafreniere's empty-netter to come through as insurance. The 24-year-old winger has two goals over his last three contests after going five games without a point. He's still in a top-six role despite the recent slump, and he has six goals, 14 points, 51 shots on net, 48 hits and a minus-4 rating over 26 appearances this season. He's trending toward production similar to last year's 17-goal, 45-point effort in 82 outings.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Tallies again Wednesday

Lafreniere scored a goal on three shots and went plus-3 in Wednesday's 7-3 win over the Lightning. Lafreniere has three goals and six points over his last four games. The 24-year-old winger was among the Rangers' slowest starters this season, but he appears to be piecing it together now. He's had some good runs that didn't last in previous years, so fantasy managers expecting him to live up to his No. 1 overall status (2020) should probably be a little more patient. Nonetheless, he's produced four goals, 12 points, 40 shots on net, 24 hits, 11 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 18 appearances, a pace that puts him in the neighborhood of matching his career-best 57-point effort from the 2023-24 campaign.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Three-point effort in win

Lafreniere scored a power-play goal and added two even-strength assists in Monday's 6-3 win over the Predators. All three points came in the second period as the Rangers pulled away and secured their first win on home ice this season. Lafreniere benefitted from having his usual center, Vincent Trocheck, back in action, but the 24-year-old winger was also finding a groove on his own, producing two goals and eight points over the last seven contests.

Lafreniere scored a goal on two shots and added an assist in Friday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Ducks. Lafreniere and J.T. Miller assisted on each other's tallies in this contest. The 23-year-old Lafreniere has five points over his last three contests, and this was his third multi-point effort across 14 games in March, a month that's seen him put up two goals and nine assists. The winger has 16 goals, 43 points, 142 shots on net, 108 hits and a minus-14 rating through 73 outings overall.

Lafreniere logged an assist in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Kings. Lafreniere has a goal and four assists over his last six games. The winger is still struggling for consistency a bit, but March has gone much better than his two-point effort over nine contests in February. For the season, he's at 41 points, 140 shots on net, 108 hits and a minus-13 rating through 72 appearances.

Lafreniere earned two helpers and one shot on goal in a 5-3 win over Vancouver on Saturday. Lafreniere assisted on two third-period goals by Jonny Brodzinski on Saturday. The 23-year-old Lafreniere didn't have a point in three games going into Saturday's matchup. He has taken a step back in 2024-25 after showing plenty of breakout upside last season. Lafreniere has 15 goals and 40 points through 71 appearances this campaign.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Ends goal drought Saturday

Lafreniere scored a goal on three shots, dished an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets. Lafreniere ended a 14-game goal drought, which started Feb. 5 versus the Bruins. This was also his first multi-point effort since Jan. 21 against the Senators. The 23-year-old winger was limited to five assists during his scoring slump, but he remains in a top-six role for the Rangers. Overall, he's at 15 goals, 38 points, 136 shots on net, 99 hits, 24 PIM and a minus-14 rating over 67 outings this season. With about a month to go in the campaign, Lafreniere looks likely to miss the 50-point mark for the fourth time in his five-year career barring a late surge of offense.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Deals helper in win

Lafreniere logged an assist and two hits in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Predators. Lafreniere set up Artemi Panarin on the opening goal at 8:32 of the first period. The helper ended a five-game point drought for Lafreniere, though he's still gone eight contests without a goal. The 23-year-old's role hasn't changed amid his struggles -- he remains a top-six winger playing alongside Panarin and Vincent Trocheck. Lafreniere is up to 33 points, 129 shots on net, 90 hits and a minus-17 rating through 60 appearances this season, a large step back from his career-best 57-point effort in the 2023-24 regular season.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Registers assist Friday

Lafreniere tallied an assist and had one shot on goal in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Penguins. Lafreniere was the sole helper on linemate Vincent Trocheck's goal in the first period. The 23-year-old Lafreniere is up to 18 assists, 32 points and 125 shots on net in 54 games this season. He has two points in his last three contests and seems to be developing chemistry with Trocheck on the second line. Lafreniere will have to improve the consistency of his offensive production if he wants to match his point total of 57 in 82 regular-season outings from a year ago.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Multi-point effort Tuesday

Lafreniere scored an even-strength goal and a power-play assist in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Senators. Lafreniere recorded his first multi-point effort since Jan. 7, when he scored two goals in a 5-4 loss to the Stars. The star winger is having a down year compared to 2023-24, however, when he established a career-high mark in points with 57. He's notched 28 points in 47 outings in the current campaign, including seven (four goals, three helpers) in his 11 outings this month.

Lafreniere scored a goal in Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Canadiens. Lafreniere opened the scoring at 11:17 of the first period. • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Picks up helper in win

Lafreniere notched an assist, four shots on goal and two PIM in Thursday's 5-3 win over Utah. Lafreniere ended a brief three-game slump when he set up Artemi Panarin's first goal of the contest. The 23-year-old Lafreniere continues to see top-line minutes, and with the Rangers playing better in January, there's less chance he gets shuffled down the lineup. The winger has four points over eight games this month, matching his total from 13 contests in December. He's at 25 points, 109 shots on net, 59 hits, 22 PIM and a minus-12 rating across 44 appearances this season.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Lights lamp twice in OT loss

Lafreniere scored two goals in Tuesday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Stars. Both goals came in the first period as the Rangers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead, but their leaky defense once again let them down. Lafreniere snapped a 13-game goal drought with the performance, and on the season, the first overall pick in the 2020 NHL Draft has churned out 11 goals and 24 points in 40 appearances.

  • Rangers' Alexis Lafreniere: Stuck in slump

Monday's 5-0 loss to New Jersey was the seventh time in his past eight appearances that Lafreniere had been held off the scoresheet. Lafreniere got off to a strong start to the campaign, contributing eight goals and 16 points across his first 19 outings, but he's managed just a goal and five points over his past 15 appearances. He's far from the only struggling member of the Rangers -- New York is 4-13-0 overs its past 17 games -- but Lafreniere still has something to prove. The 23-year-old finished with under 40 points in each of his first three campaigns, but he gave the world a glimpse of why he was taken with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft when he provided 28 goals and 57 points across 82 regular-season games in 2023-24. That jump in production led to him inking a seven-year, $52.15 million contract that doesn't begin until 2025-26. If he fails to build off his success from last season, then that deal will end up looking like an overpayment.

The winger is up to nine goals, 11 helpers, 57 shots on net, 31 hits and a minus-11 rating while seeing steady top-six usage this season.
