As expected, forward LeBron James has informed the Cavaliers he intends to opt out of his contract and become a free agent, sources told ESPN.
James had a player option for the 2015-16 season, but he declined to utilize it. While James will be an unrestricted free agent, Cavaliers general manager David Griffin previously said he expects James to re-sign with the Cavaliers.
