Aaron Hernandez is heading to prison for the rest of his life, without parole, after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder on Wednesday afternoon.

The prison where Hernandez will likely spend the rest of his life? It is awkwardly close to where the former Patriots tight end spent the early years of his professional career.

MCI Cedar Junction at Walpole, Hernandez' currently scheduled prison, is a whopping 7 minute, 3.5-mile drive from Gillette Stadium.

That's a short spring. (USATSI)

You know, just a short sprint away from rifle-carrying prison guards and scent-sniffing dogs on a manhunt.

Well, not short. It's a 49-minute walk to get from the prison to Gillette per Google Maps. That's a hike even at a dead sprint.

The drive, though. That's short. He'll find out pretty quickly whether or not any of his old teammates are actually "friends," assuming the Pats would allow them to visit (they would probably be wise to continue severing ties).

Sundays will be interesting. Time in the yard could mean hearing the sound of Tom Brady tossing touchdowns to a star tight end.

Hernandez won't be living far from his old team. (via @CBSNLive)
