What to Know

After two games on the road, the Eastern Michigan Eagles are heading back home. The Eagles and the Ohio Bobcats will face off in a Mid-American battle at 8 p.m. ET this past Tuesday at Rynearson Stadium. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Last week, EMU's offense rose to the challenge against a Toledo defense that boasted an average of only 18.25 points allowed. They skirted past the Toledo Rockets 52-49. EMU can attribute much of their success to WR Hassan Beydoun, who caught 12 passes for two TDs and 197 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Ben Bryant's 64-yard TD bomb to Beydoun in the third quarter.

EMU's defense was a presence as well, as it embarrassed Toledo's offensive line to sack QB Dequan Finn six times for a total loss of 32 yards. Leading the way was DL Jose Ramirez and his three sacks. Ramirez now has seven sacks through nine games.

Speaking of close games: last Tuesday Ohio sidestepped the Miami (OH) RedHawks for a 35-33 win. RB De'Montre Tuggle and QB Kurtis Rourke were among the main playmakers for the Bobcats as the former punched in two rushing touchdowns in addition to snatching one receiving TD and the latter passed for three TDs and 288 yards on 32 attempts in addition to picking up 45 yards on the ground.

The Eagles are the favorite in this one, with an expected 6-point margin of victory. They might be worth taking a chance on against the spread as they are currently on a two-game streak of ATS wins.

The wins brought EMU up to 6-3 and Ohio to 2-7. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: EMU is stumbling into the game with the 230th most rushing touchdowns allowed in the nation, having given up 20 on the season. Ohios have had an even harder time: they are 223rd worst in the nation in rushing touchdowns allowed, with 19 on the season. It's possible one of these Achilles' heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
