Cahill (calf/foot) was re-examined recently and found to have several fractures and torn ligaments in his right foot, Kevin Gorman of TribLive.com reports.

Pirates director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said Wednesday that the right-hander won't resume baseball activities for 8-to-12 weeks, so he should be sidelined for the remainder of the season. Cahill also missed significant time earlier in the year due to a calf injury, and he recorded a 6.57 ERA and 1.51 WHIP in 37 innings across nine appearances (eight starts) in 2021.
