Report: Marcus Mariota will not attend NFL Draft
Roger Goodell might not be shaking any hands when he announces the first two picks at the 2015 NFL Draft on April 30.
It looks like NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is going to get some serious alone time at the podium during the first round of the NFL Draft on April 30.
According to ESPN.com, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota won't be attending the draft in Chicago because it's "important to him, personally and culturally" to be in Hawaii on the night of the draft.
That's one less person that Goodell will get to hug or share a handshake with on the night of the draft.
A bunch of guys will be drafted tonight and, well, let's hope they're ready for some huggin'. http://t.co/I06Kq7wrzG pic.twitter.com/xERzYMnAIx

Mariota's decision comes less than two weeks after Jameis Winston also made the decision to not attend the draft. However, Winston seems to have softened his stance over the past 10 days and he might end up attending.
At his Pro Day on Tuesday, Winston said he might not attend the draft so that he can be with his grandma, who suffers from Type-2 diabetes and can't travel.
However, Winston did leave the door open for attending.
"We really haven't made that decision yet," Winston said. "There's been a lot of pressure on people trying to get me to come and make the draft."
Winston and Mariota are the top two quarterbacks in the draft and it's widely expected that one of them -- likely Winston -- will be the top overall pick.
If Winston doesn't show up at the draft and becomes the No. 1 pick, it would mark the first time since 1994 when the Bengals drafted Dan Wilkinson that the No. 1 overall pick didn't attend the draft.
If Winston and Mariota get taken at No. 1 and No. 2, it would mark the first time since 1992 that both of the top two picks in the draft didn't attend.
As for Goodell, it might be a lonely night for the commissioner, but you don't need to feel sorry for him. Earlier this month, Goodell said he's not worried about whether top prospects attend the draft.
"I'm not concerned with that," Goodell said. "I think that it's something we respect when a player says, 'I'd like to be with my family on that day.' It's an important day for them also."
If both Mariota and Winston are at home on April 30, that could mean that highest pick in attendance is USC defensive tackle Leonard Williams. In each of the four mock drafts put together by CBSSports.com, Williams is projected to go no lower than third overall.
