Jets' Stone Smartt: Five receptions in Week 16
Smartt recorded five catches for 34 yards on five targets in Sunday's 29-6 loss to the Saints.
Smartt took the field for 20 of the Jets' 66 snaps on offense, with his 30 percent snap share placing him behind Jeremy Ruckert (67 percent) and ahead of Jelani Woods (20 percent) among New York tight ends. Though Smartt's five catches ranked first on the team, he's nonetheless likely to see his role in the passing game fade in Week 17 against the Patriots if top tight end Mason Taylor (neck) is able to play following a two-game absence.

Jets' Stone Smartt: Active for Week 15
Smartt (concussion) is active for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Smartt entered the league's concussion protocol following the Jets' Week 14 loss to the Dolphins. He ended the week with a full practice Friday and has been given the green light to play Sunday after being evaluated by an independent neurologist. Smartt will have the opportunity to serve as the Jets' TE2 behind Jeremy Ruckert due to Mason Taylor (neck) being inactive.

Jets' Stone Smartt: Limited with concussion
Smartt (concussion) was a limited participant in Thursday's practice, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Smartt entered the league's concussion protocol after sustaining an injury late in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Dolphins. The tight end's upgrade to limited participation means he is progressing through the league's protocol. The 27-year-old will have just one more practice to pass an independent neurological exam and upgrade to full participation in an attempt to play Sunday against the Jaguars.

Jets' Stone Smartt: Questionable vs. Jacksonville
Smartt (concussion) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.
Smartt was able to practice Friday without limitations, but he'll need to pass an evaluation from an independent neurologist in order to clear the league's concussion protocol ahead of Sunday's game. The fourth-year pro has mostly served on special teams this season, but he could see an expanded role on offense Sunday behind Jeremy Ruckert due to the absence of Mason Taylor (neck).

Jets' Stone Smartt: Full practice Friday
Smartt (concussion) practiced fully Friday, Rich Cimini of ESPN.com reports.
Smartt advanced from a non-participant Wednesday to a full participant in Friday's session, but evidently he's yet to clear the NFL's concussion protocol, given that he carries a 'questionable' designation for Sunday's game against the Jaguars.

Jets' Stone Smartt: In concussion protocol
Smartt (concussion) did not participate in Wednesday's practice.
Smartt appeared to sustain the injury late in the fourth quarter of this past Sunday's loss to the Dolphins, and he finished that game playing 22 snaps (three on offense, 19 on special teams) while failing to haul in his lone catch. Given his DNP on Wednesday, Smartt faces an uphill battle to be cleared to play this Sunday against the Jaguars. With Mason Taylor (neck) also working through an injury, Jeremy Ruckert and Jelani Woods are the two remaining healthy tight ends on the Jets' active roster for the start of Week 15 prep.

Jets' Stone Smartt: Won't play in Week 8
Smartt (quadriceps) won't play Sunday against the Bengals, Eric Allen of the Jets' official site reports.
Top tight end Mason Taylor is also battling a quadriceps injury, though Taylor still has a chance to play Sunday since he's considered questionable. Jeremy Ruckert retains the second spot on the depth chart, while Jelani Woods could take on a larger role in Smartt's absence.

Jets' Stone Smartt: Nursing quadriceps injury
Smartt did not participate in Wednesday's practice due to a quadriceps injury.
Smartt served exclusively on special teams during the Jets' Week 7 loss to the Panthers, and he appears to have picked up a quad injury in the process. He'll have two more opportunities to practice and avoid an injury tag ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals.
