Senators' Nick Jensen: Set to play
Jensen (upper body) is expected to play against the Kings on Saturday.
After leaving Thursday's 5-3 win over Boston early due to an injury, it appears Jensen won't miss additional action. He participated in Friday's practice and Saturday's morning skate, paving the way for him to remain in the lineup. Jensen has supplied one goal, three assists, 13 shots on net, 20 blocked shots and 17 hits across 18 appearances this season.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Sustains upper-body injury
Jensen suffered an upper-body injury during Thursday's tilt against Boston and won't return to the game.
Jensen recorded one hit and had a minus-1 rating in 12:02 of ice time before exiting the game. He has a goal and four points in 18 appearances this season, including Thursday's action. If Jensen can't play Saturday versus the Kings, then Ottawa will be down to five healthy defensemen and will need to call someone up from the minors. Thomas Chabot (upper body) is also on the shelf and isn't believed to be close to returning.

Senators' Nick Jensen: First goal of season
Jensen scored a goal in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Stars.
It was his first goal of the season. Jensen pinched in from the blue line and finished a passing play by chipping the puck over Jake Oettinger's glove from in tight. He has four points (one goal, three assists) and 13 shots in 17 games this season, and he averages about one hit and one block each game. Jensen's fantasy value is limited, at best.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Contributes first assist of season
Jensen supplied an assist and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Islanders.
This was Jensen's first point in six outings this season. The better news for the Senators is that he appears to be fully recovered after undergoing hip surgery in the offseason, as he's been able to hold down a bottom-four role. The 35-year-old defenseman has posted eight hits, five blocked shots, a minus-3 rating and four shots on net. He's reached the 20-point mark in three of the last four years, but that would likely be a best-case scenario for his offense in 2025-26.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Says he'll play Saturday
Jensen (hip) said Friday that he'll play in Saturday's preseason finale against Montreal, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Head coach Travis Green was hopeful that Jensen would be able to suit up in Saturday's preseason finale, and the defenseman will officially be able to make his return to the ice just before the start of the regular season. It seems likely that Jensen will also be available for Thursday's Opening Night matchup against the Lightning.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Could return Saturday
Head coach Travis Green said Thursday that he hopes Jensen (hip) will be able to suit up in Saturday's preseason finale against the Canadiens, Claire Hanna of TSN reports.
Although Jensen has already been ruled out for Thursday's preseason game against the Blues, he could have an opportunity to suit up to close out the preseason. The 35-year-old underwent offseason hip surgery that has forced him to miss the start of the preseason, but he resumed full participation in practice last week and seems to be trending in the right direction ahead of Opening Night.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Back to full participation
Jensen (hip) is not limited at practice but doesn't have a timeline to play in preseason games, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports Tuesday.
Jensen is still working his way back from offseason hip surgery, so the Sens are likely to take it slow when it comes to pushing him back into the lineup. As such, Jensen won't dress against Toronto on Tuesday, but the door remains open for him to play in Sunday's matchup against New Jersey. Regardless of when he plays in the preseason, Jensen looks set to be ready for Opening Night.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Should start skating next week
Jensen (hip) should resume skating next week, but there's no guarantee he'll be ready for Ottawa's season opener versus Tampa Bay on Oct. 9, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia on Wednesday.
Jensen had three goals, 21 points, 77 shots, 55 hits and 95 blocks in 71 regular-season outings with Ottawa last year. Nikolas Matinpalo might draw into the lineup to begin the season if Jensen isn't an option. Jensen's absence would also likely result in Jordan Spence seeing an increase in his ice time after averaging 16:47 during the 2024-25 regular season.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Has surgery Monday in New York
Jensen had a procedure in New York on Monday to address a lower-body injury, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia.
According to Garrioch, the surgery went "as planned" for Jensen, but it's unclear how long the 34-year-old blueliner's recovery will take. However, Jensen relayed during the team's exit interviews that he was "hopeful" he would be ready for the start of training camp in September. Jensen should play a meaningful role in the top four again in 2025-26 for a Senators club that made the postseason in 2024-25 for the first time in eight years, provided that he doesn't suffer any setbacks in his recovery this summer. The Minnesota native did not record a point in six games against Toronto in the first round of the 2025 postseason but managed 20:55 of ice time per game, an impressive feat considering he was dealing with a lingering injury.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Hopes to be ready for camp
Jensen (undisclosed) will talk to his doctors about a game plan for his injury and hopes to be ready for training camp, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports Saturday.
Jensen was "grinding a bit to get through (the injury)" during the playoffs. He dealt with a lingering lower-body issue during the 2024-25 campaign but didn't confirm that was the problem during Saturday's media availability. Jensen could have surgery in the offseason, per Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia. The 34-year-old Jensen had three goals, 18 assists, a plus-18 rating, 55 hits and 95 blocked shots across 71 regular-season contests.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Slated to return Thursday
Jensen (rest) is expected to return for Thursday's regular-season finale against Carolina.
Jensen has been out of the lineup in the last two games due to rest purposes, but he should have one more chance to get on the ice before the start of the playoffs. The 34-year-old has made 70 appearances for the Senators this year, racking up three goals, 18 assists, 89 blocked shots and 55 hits while averaging 20:14 of ice time.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Won't play Tuesday
Jensen will be rested against Chicago on Tuesday, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Jensen missed four games in mid-March due to a lower-body injury, so it is likely the team is trying to avoid a recurrence of that issue by resting him. With both Jensen and Jake Sanderson (rest) sitting Tuesday, Tyler Kleven could see a nice uptick in ice time while Nikolas Matinpalo will step into the lineup after being scratched against the Flyers on Sunday.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Snags assist Sunday
Jensen posted an assist, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 4-0 win over the Blue Jackets.
Jensen ended a 10-game point drought with the helper. That stretch also included a span of four contests when the defenseman was out with a lower-body injury. He's up to 20 points -- reaching that mark for the third time in the last four seasons -- while adding 75 shots on net, 84 blocked shots, 53 hits and a plus-19 rating over 68 appearances.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Ready to rock
Jensen (lower body) will play against Buffalo on Tuesday, per TSN 1200 Ottawa.
Jensen will return to a second-pairing role after missing the last four games. He has compiled three goals, 19 points, 66 shots on net, 74 blocked shots and 47 hits in 60 appearances this season. Jensen will replace Nikolas Matinpalo in Tuesday's lineup.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Status up in the air Tuesday
Jensen (lower body) will be a game-time decision for Tuesday's game in Buffalo, according to TSN 1200 Ottawa.
Jensen last suited up March 13 and has missed four consecutive games. The right-shot defenseman has contributed three goals, 19 points and a plus-17 rating over 60 appearances this season. Jensen will likely replace one of Travis Hamonic or Nikolas Matinpalo in a bottom-four role once he's ready to return.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Still out Saturday
Jensen (lower body) won't play Saturday versus the Devils, per TSN 1200 Ottawa.
Jensen will miss his fourth straight game due to the injury. The 34-year-old's next chance to play is Tuesday in Buffalo. Once Jensen is cleared to play again, he'll likely retake a second-pairing role as a shutdown defender.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Ruled out again Thursday
Jensen (lower body) will be unavailable for Thursday's clash with Colorado, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
Jensen will be on the shelf for his third consecutive contest due to his lingering lower-body injury. In his last 12 appearances, the 34-year-old blueliner has recorded a lone point to go with nine shots, five hits and 16 blocks. Even once cleared to play, Jensen is unlikely to offer more than mid-range fantasy value given his offensive limitations.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Unlikely to play against Montreal
Jensen is dealing with an apparent mid-body or lower-body injury and is unlikely to play in Tuesday's game against Montreal, TSN 1200 Ottawa reports.
Jensen didn't play Saturday against Toronto and was absent from Monday's practice session while tending to his apparent injury. He'll likely be unavailable again Tuesday, and assuming he's sidelined, his next chance to suit up would be Thursday against the Avalanche.

Senators' Nick Jensen: First point since return
Jensen registered an assist, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Rangers.
Jensen ended an 11-game point drought when he set up the first of Brady Tkachuk's two goals Saturday. The helper was also Jensen's first point since he missed five contests due to an undisclosed injury. The blueliner is up to 19 points, 61 shots on net, 70 blocked shots, 44 hits and a plus-16 rating over 57 appearances. He's on track to reach the 20-point mark for the third time in four seasons, but his physical play has dropped off in his first campaign with the Senators.

Senators' Nick Jensen: Returning Saturday
Jensen (undisclosed) will be in the lineup Saturday versus the Canadiens, per TSN 1200 Ottawa.
Jensen dealt with a lower-body injury prior to the 4 Nations Face-Off break and was apparently bothered by an issue ahead of Saturday's contest. He'll suit up in a seven-defensemen lineup, giving the Senators some cover on the back end if his injury impacts his performance during the game. Assuming he ends up fine, he's in line for top-four minutes.
