  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Returns to minors

Murashov was reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Wednesday. Murashov has a 1-1-1 record, 1.90 GAA and .913 save percentage in four appearances with Pittsburgh this season. Although Murashov held his own when called upon, he's the odd man out now that Tristan Jarry (lower body) has been activated off injured reserve. Jarry is set to start at home against Buffalo on Wednesday, while Arturs Silovs will serve as the understudy. If Jarry or Silovs become unavailable later in the campaign, then Murashov will probably be recalled.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Tagged with OT loss Saturday

Murashov stopped 18 of 21 shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Kraken. Murashov entered this game with a 1-1-0 record while recording one shutout, a 1.53 GAA and a .932 save percentage across three appearances in his first NHL campaign. He wasn't able to maintain the strong start here, but ups and downs are common among young goaltenders. Murashov should return to his No. 2 role when the Penguins take on the Sabres on Wednesday, allowing Arturs Silovs to return to his regular role between the pipes.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Loses battle in debut

Murashov stopped 24 of 27 shots in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Kings. Murashov's NHL debut came down to the final 10 minutes before he allowed the game-winning goal to Kevin Fiala. As he kept the Penguins in front through the second period, Murashov might have done enough to earn more looks between the pipes moving forward. With the team's starting goaltender Tristan Jarry set to miss time with a lower-body injury, Murashov will likely occupy the backup role while Arturs Silovs sees the largest bump in playing time. Murashov remains off the fantasy radar for the time being, but that could change if he picks up a win in Jarry's absence.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Set for NHL debut

Murashov will patrol the home crease against the Kings on Sunday, Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site reports. Murashov will make his NHL debut in the second half of Pittsburgh's back-to-back after Arturs Silovs played in Saturday's 2-1 shootout loss to New Jersey. The 21-year-old Murashov has posted a 5-2-0 record with a 1.73 GAA and a .931 save percentage through seven appearances with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season. The Kings sit 25th in the league with 2.73 goals per game this campaign.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Posts first shutout

Murashov recorded a 25-save shutout in AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 4-0 win over Charlotte on Friday. Murashov is now 5-0-0 on the year with a 1.40 GAA and a .949 save percentage through five starts. This was the second shutout of his AHL career in 21 appearances. The 21-year-old netminder will have to wait for an absence for Tristan Jarry or Arturs Silovs, but he's knocking on the door of the NHL with his dominant play with the Baby Pens.

  • Penguins' Sergei Murashov: Remains undefeated this season

Murashov stopped 26 of 27 shots in AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's 4-1 win over Lehigh Valley on Wednesday. Through four starts, Murashov is 4-0-0 with a 1.75 GAA and a .938 save percentage. The 21-year-old goalie will look to continue playing well in the minors to position himself for a call-up should the Penguins need reinforcements in goal at the NHL level. Overall, he's gone 16-3-1 in his first 20 AHL contests, but he'll have to continue biding his time as long as Tristan Jarry and Arturs Silovs play well enough with the big club.
