Lille will return to France with a two-goal deficit in their round of 16 Champions League matchup against Chelsea. The Premier League club scored one goal on either side of halftime to establish a 2-0 advantage heading into next month's second leg.

But how did each player perform in this one? Here are our player ratings for the match for every starter, substitute and manager.

All ratings are out of 10, and the higher the number the better. A zero would be a first-minute red card. A 10 would be like a dominant hat trick.

Lille player ratings

Name MinutesHow did they do? Rating

(GK) Leo Jardim

90

Not much he could do on either goal -- Chelsea took their chances when they came and probably should have scored more given Havertz's early miss.

6

(DEF) Zeki Celik

90

Energetic enough up and down the right side, but given a tough time and it was somewhat surprising that he lasted the full 90.

5

(DEF) Jose Fonte

90

The captain did not look out of his depth individually, but he was made to look his age at times by the Chelsea attack.

6

(DEF) Sven Botman

90

Many eyes will have been on him and while LOSC's backline were not constantly overrun, they were breached often enough for Chelsea to get the goals they needed. Got up for a second half corner which Mendy gathered easily enough.

6

(DEF) Tiago Djalo

77

Like Celik, given a rough time and Chelsea's attacking movement often pulled him out of position before he went off.

5

(MID) Amadou Onana

65

Withdrawn to give Yilmaz a chance to salvage a goal, he was perhaps not the first name who could have been withdrawn based on performance.

6

(MID) Xeka

90

Another who endured a difficult evening, but luckily Sanches was there to offer some resistance.

5

(MID) Benjamin Andre

90

Tried his luck from range when the opportunity arose and was tenacious enough, but ultimately struggled against a superior midfield unit.

6

(FWD) Renato Sanches

81

LOSC's best player and at the forefront of everything good they did, if only his teammates could have matched him at times.

8

(FWD) Jonathan David

81

A frustrating evening for the Canadian hotshot as he did not get the sort of chances he thrives on to really impress.

6

(FWD) Jonathan Bamba

90

Hustled a fair bit and made minimal thing happen, but it was Sanches who was pulling the strings with David the man Lille really needed to bring into the game to hurt their hosts.

SubstitutesReplacedHow did they do?Rating

(SUB 1) Burak Yilmaz

Onana

Showed why he is a shadow of the beast we saw in front of goal last season.

5

(SUB 2) Gabriel Gudmundsson

Djalo

Fared a little better than his replaced teammate, but not by a great amount.

6

(SUB 3) Hatem Ben Arfa

Sanches

The mercurial wildcard was given the final 10 minutes to make a difference and was ineffectual.

5

(SUB 4) Edon Zhegrova David Sent on more to ensure that David did not hurt himself once the game was lost rather than out of hope he could turn it around. 5

Match plan was undone by Chelsea's early goal, but his troops rallied valiantly and it was not as if he had major quality on the bench.
