  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Week 9 Waiver Priority List

The 49ers are hopeful Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) will return after their bye in Week 9, but we know that's not guaranteed. And Jordan Mason (shoulder) continues to deal with his injury, which knocked him out of Week 8 against Dallas. Guerendo took over against the Cowboys and had 14 carries for 85 yards and a touchdown and three catches for 17 yards on four targets, and he's worth adding in all leagues for at least 10 percent of your remaining FAB. If McCaffrey is healthy, then Guerendo might not be a factor for San Francisco, but if McCaffrey remains out, along with Mason still hurt, then Guerendo would be a starter in all leagues in Week 10 against Tampa Bay.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Stashes (RB Preview)

Guerendo is on bye this week, and Christian McCaffrey could be back next week, so don't spend much. But Guerendo just turned 17 touches into 19.2 PPR Fantasy points and is averaging more than six yards per carry. He needs to be rostered.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Steps in for injured starter again

Guerendo rushed 14 times for 85 yards and a touchdown while securing three of four targets for 17 yards in Sunday's 30-24 win over Dallas. Guerendo took over mid-game after Jordan Mason (shoulder) aggravated a nagging AC joint injury early in the contest. The 24-year-old Guerendo performed as he did the last time this scenario unfolded, which is one of the reasons the rookie was pegged a deep sleeper heading into drafts this year. The downside from a fantasy perspective is that San Francisco will observe its bye this upcoming week, and star running back Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) has a shot at returning in Week 10 against Tampa Bay. Guerendo still is worth looking at if he was dropped prior to Mason's activation Sunday, but be aware of CMC's status come Nov. 10.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Takes back seat with starter active

Guerendo rushed once for two yards and caught his only target for five yards in Sunday's 28-18 loss to Kansas City. Guerendo was coming off of his best game as a pro last week (10-99-0), but the rookie took a back seat to Jordan Mason (shoulder) who was able to suit up after suffering a sprained AC joint against the Seahawks in Week 6. The 24-year-old Guerendo saw just two touches when the dust settled from Sunday's loss, fumbling on his lone carry despite not losing possession. With Mason handling his usual workload and Christian McCaffrey (Achilles) nearing a return, it appears that Guerendo can safely be returned to the waiver wire ahead of next Sunday's tilt against the Cowboys.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: RBs to Sit

We'll see what happens with Jordan Mason (shoulder) this week, but I would only use Guerendo as a flex if Mason can't play. While Guerendo did well in place of Mason in Week 6 against Seattle, keep in mind that he had 76 rushing yards to end the game, and he didn't have a target. Prior to that big run, he had nine carries for 23 yards, and he split playing time with Patrick Taylor. The Chiefs also are No. 1 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, and Guerendo will be tough to trust even if Mason is out. No running back has gained more than 46 yards on the ground against Kansas City, including matchups with Derrick Henry, Bijan Robinson, J.K. Dobbins and Alvin Kamara.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Week 7 Waiver Priority List

Jordan Mason (shoulder) is considered day-to-day with the injury he sustained last Thursday against Seattle, so there's a chance he could play in Week 7 against Kansas City. And he did practice Monday, albeit in a non-contact jersey. If Mason is out, we could see the 49ers use Guerendo and Patrick Taylor (1 percent rostered), so keep that in mind. Guerendo had 10 carries for 99 yards against the Seahawks, which was highlighted by a 76-yard run to end the game, and he didn't have a target. Taylor had five carries for 16 yards and one catch for 12 yards on one target. I would add Guerendo first based on upside, and he's worth 10-15 percent of your remaining FAB. Taylor is worth adding for up at least 5 percent, but hopefully we get more clarity on Mason before making your waiver moves.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Impressive in expanded role

Guerendo rushed 10 times for 99 yards in the 49ers' 36-24 win over the Seahawks on Thursday night. The rookie saw the most robust volume of his young career in the victory, as Jordan Mason's multiple exits from the game due to a shoulder injury left Guerendo as the lead back for all but one play in the second half. Guerendo had scuffled to just 23 yards on nine carries when he took the handoff on the opening play of the 49ers' final possession, a play on which he broke off a 76-yard run up the right side of the field that he nearly scored on. The rookie fourth-round pick was caught from behind but made sure his momentum didn't carry him into the end zone as he went down, forcing the Seahawks to burn two timeouts before Kyle Juszczyk scored a game-sealing six-yard touchdown. San Francisco has 10 days before a Super Bowl rematch with the Chiefs on Sunday, Oct. 20, but if neither Mason nor Christian McCaffrey (Achilles/calf) is able to suit up for that contest, Guerendo would be in line to serve as San Francisco's No. 1 back for that marquee battle.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Season-high 22 yards

Guerendo rushed five times for 22 yards and was not targeted in Sunday's 24-23 loss to Arizona. Guerendo backed up Jordan Mason (14-89-0) as the rookie had been through the previous four games this season. The 24-year-old Guerendo produced his highest rushing total of his young career while returning a kick for 32 yards in the upset loss. There isn't enough volume currently for the Louisville product to warrant fantasy consideration against the Seahawks on Thursday.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Fumbles lone touch on offense

Guerendo lost a fumble on his lone carry Sunday, failing to gain any yards while earning zero targets in a blowout win over the Patriots. Guerendo had a nightmarish game that resulted in a negative fantasy score for anyone bold enough to play the sparsely-used backup against New England. In an effort to not be too harsh on the rookie, it should be noted that he gained 23 yards on San Francisco's only kickoff return Sunday. While Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) mends on IR, it would take another injury to current starter Jordan Mason to give Guerendo fantasy value in most leagues heading into a Week 5 tilt against Arizona next Sunday.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Earns five carries Sunday

Guerendo rushed five times for 19 yards in Sunday's 27-24 loss to the Rams. The five carries marked a new high-water mark for the rookie after receiving just one carry for no gain in his first two appearances with San Francisco. Guerendo was spelling fill-in starter Jordan Mason (19-77-0) on Sunday, a situation that could repeat itself against the Patriots on Sunday. The 2024 fourth-round pick only warrants fantasy consideration in the event that Mason is unable to suit up in the coming weeks.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: No touches on 13 snaps

Guerendo (groin) suited up for Monday's season opener against the Jets but did not record a touch in a 32-19 win. Guerendo made the 49ers' 53-man roster but was battling a groin injury heading into Week 1. The fourth-round pick out of Louisville got the green light and wound up logging 10 snaps on special teams and three on offense. Starter Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) did not suit up for this contest, allowing Jordan Mason (28-147-1) to go off against the Jets. Guerendo appears to be next in line should San Francisco need a runner behind CMC or Mason this season.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Set to suit up in season opener

Guerendo (groin) practiced in full Saturday and doesn't have an injury designation for Monday's Week 1 contest against the Jets. Guerendo was a limited participant in each of San Francisco's first two practices of the week after missing all of last week due to a groin injury. He is in line to make his NFL debut Monday, though, after returning to a full practice session Saturday. Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) is listed as questionable for the opener against the Jets but has stated that he's definitely suiting up, so Guerendo will likely see limited work in the running game behind the star tailback and backup Jordan Mason.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Remains limited

Guerendo (groin) remained limited in practice Friday, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports. The rookie missed most of training camp with a hamstring injury and then hurt his groin in late August a week after returning to practice. With Christian McCaffrey (calf) on track to play and Guerendo having taken very few practice reps this summer, there's not much chance of Guerendo having a significant role Week 1 even if he ends up being healthy enough to play.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Opens week as limited participant

Guerendo (groin) is practicing on a limited basis Thursday, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. Guerendo spent the early portion of training camp sidelined due to a hamstring injury, and he then tweaked his groin after returning for San Francisco's preseason finale. The rookie fourth-round pick will have two more chances to upgrade to full participation in practice ahead of Monday's regular-season opener against the Jets. Meanwhile, top running back Christian McCaffrey (calf/Achilles) will also be limited Thursday, though he's expected to be available Week 1.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Tweaks groin in practice

Guerendo tweaked his groin Monday and won't practice this week, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports. After missing training camp and most of the preseason with a hamstring injury, Guerendo returned for San Francisco's final exhibition and took 13 touches for 35 yards in a 24-24 tie with the Raiders. His depth chart standing seemingly improved despite all the missed time this summer, as longtime No. 2 running back Elijah Mitchell was placed on season-ending injured reserve due to a hamstring injury that will require surgery. Jordan Mason is now expected to enter Week 1 as the No. 2 back behind Christian McCaffrey, leaving Guerendo to focus on kickoff returns for the time being. Shanahan said Guerendo could be back at practice as soon as next week, meaning the rookie isn't ruled out for a Week 1 matchup with the Jets on Sept. 9.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Healthy amount of action

Guerendo (hamstring) rushed 11 times for 32 yards and caught both of his targets for three yards in Friday's preseason tilt against Las Vegas. Guerendo returned from a hamstring injury that cost the fourth-round pick two games of action this exhibition season. The Louisville product didn't post gaudy rushing numbers in his 49ers debut, but he had an electric kickoff return of 93 yards that fell just short of paydirt. Guerendo currently sits behind veteran backups Elijah Mitchell and Jordan Mason on the depth chart, but the 6-foot, 221-pound rookie has the physical tools to profile as a fantasy prospect should he survive the impending roster cuts ahead the Sept. 27 deadline.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Could practice this week

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Sunday he's "hopeful" Guerendo (hamstring) will be able to resume practicing this week and potentially play in Friday's preseason finale against the Raiders, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports. Guerendo has missed more than three weeks of training camp, including San Francisco's first two preseason games, due to a hamstring injury sustained July 24. The rookie fourth-rounder will be in a position to receive valuable reps if he's indeed able to return this week, with all of Christian McCaffrey (calf), Elijah Mitchell (hamstring) and Jordan Mason (hip) nursing injuries of their own. Friday's exhibition matchup against the Raiders represents Guerendo's last chance to log game reps before the 49ers take on the Jets in Week 1 on Monday, Sept. 9.

  • 49ers' Isaac Guerendo: Injures hamstring Wednesday

Guerendo departed Wednesday's training camp practice early due to a hamstring injury, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports. The severity of Guerendo's injury isn't known, with head coach Kyle Shanahan saying that the running back will need to be evaluated further, according to Lindsey Pallares of the 49ers' official site. It's a tough start for the rookie speedster, who is working to carve out a role behind Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell. Guerendo dealt with recurring soft-tissue injuries in college, so his status will warrant close monitoring.
