Steel concluded the season having posted six goals and 16 assists in 65 games. The sophomore's 22 points were marred by an unsightly minus-13 rating, but such is life when playing for one of the league's worst teams. Steel managed to produce over a third of his points (eight) on the power play, where he averaged 1:44 while often centering the team's top unit.
Steel scored a goal on two shots in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Avalanche. Steel converted on a Ryan Getzlaf set-up at 12:48 of the second period, right at the end of a Ducks power play. It's been a somewhat tough first full NHL season for Steel -- his six goals in 61 games equals his output from just 22 contests last year. The 22-year-old center is at 22 points, 80 shots and a minus-12 rating.
Steel notched a power-play assist in Friday's 3-2 win over the Penguins. Steel set up Ryan Getzlaf's second-period tally. The helper snapped a five-game point drought for the 22-year-old center, who now has 21 points and 77 shots through 59 contests. Eight of his points have come with a man advantage.
Steel produced an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Kings. Steel provided a perfect feed to Max Jones for the goal at 5:43 of the first period. With three points in his last five games, Steel is modestly starting to heat up. The 21-year-old is at 17 points, 59 shots and a minus-9 rating through 47 appearances this season.
Steel picked up a power-play assist in Monday's 4-2 loss to the Sharks. Steel has 16 points this season, and seven have come on the power play. The 21-year-old has added 56 shots on goal and a minus-9 rating through 44 games. A first-round pick from 2016, Steel should eventually be a fixture in the top-six, but his production this year is more of a non-physical middle-six forward, which isn't enough for most fantasy owners.
