Less than one week after being selected No. 11 overall by the Charlotte Hornets in the NBA Draft, Malik Monk appears to be out for the summer with a left ankle sprain. He is expected to miss both summer training camp with the team and the Summer League games in Orlando.

Monk, who wowed last season at Kentucky with his athleticism and hot-shooting from beyond the arc, was widely viewed as a top-10 pick before falling to the Hornets on draft night at No. 11.

As a freshman last season in Lexington, Monk led the team in scoring with 19.8 points per game and shot 39.7 percent from three-point range, leading the Wildcats to an Elite Eight appearance before losing to the eventual NCAA champion North Carolina Tar Heels.
