Top Samaje Perine News

  • Bengals' Samaje Perine: Paces team in rushing yards Sunday

Perine rushed six times for 31 yards and caught his only target for seven yards in Sunday's Week 14 loss to Buffalo. He also returned two kickoffs for 49 yards.

As usual, Chase Brown worked as Cincinnati's clear lead back, but he managed just 23 yards on 12 carries, albeit with a touchdown on the ground and another through the air. Perine was much more efficient with 31 yards on just six carries, though he didn't get into the end zone. Perine has posted a hearty 5.2 YPC on the campaign, but he's averaged a modest 24.4 rushing yards per contest as Brown's backup.

  • Bengals' Samaje Perine: Fumbles in return to action

Perine rushed 14 times for 39 yards and brought in both targets for 15 yards in the Bengals' 32-14 win over the Ravens on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble.

Perine returned from a two-game absence due to an ankle injury and saw only one fewer carry than backfield mate Chase Brown, but he gained exactly half of the latter's 78 rushing yards. Perine also lost his second fumble of the season at the Ravens' 14-yard line with just over five minutes remaining, but the Bengals were able to regain possession five plays later when they forced the ball from Zay Flowers after a reception. Perine should continue slotting into a relatively solid complementary role moving forward now that he's back to full health.

  • Bengals' Samaje Perine: Logs full practice Tuesday

Perine was a full participant at practice Tuesday.

Perine was estimated as a full participant for the Bengals' walk-through practice Monday, and he was able to run full drills Tuesday, keeping him on track to play Thursday in Baltimore. After missing the Bengals' previous two games, Perine should step back in as the top change-of-pace option behind starting running back Chase Brown.

  • Bengals' Samaje Perine: Estimated as full participant Monday

Perine (ankle) was estimated as a full participant on Monday's practice report, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Perine has missed each of the Bengals' past two contests after suffering a high-ankle sprain Week 9. With Tahj Brooks (concussion) already ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Ravens, Perine appears set to return behind Chase Brown. Perine had been handling a decent chunk of the pass-down and two-minute work for Cincinnati prior to his injury, so his return could be a small hit to Brown's fantasy outlook.

  • Bengals' Samaje Perine: Missing second straight game

Perine (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Listed as doubtful heading into Sunday after failing to practice in any fashion this week, Perine will unsurprisingly wind up missing a second straight game. His absence will clear the way for Tahj Brooks to serve as the No. 2 running back behind starter Chase Brown, who should continue to see increased involvement on passing downs sans Perine.

  • Bengals' Samaje Perine: Officially doubtful for Week 12

Perine (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Patriots.

Perine's doubtful designation was expected based on reporting from earlier in the week. He sprained his ankle in Week 9 against the Bears and hasn't played since. Chase Brown will likely maintain a near-monopoly on Cincinnati's backfield touches Sunday, with Tahj Brooks as the next man up if Perine's ruled out.

  • Bengals' Samaje Perine: Considered doubtful for Week 12

Perine (ankle) is doubtful for Sunday's game against the Patriots, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports.

Perine is still recovering from a high-ankle sprain sustained during Cincinnati's loss to the Bears in Week 9, and it appears as though he'll need to spend at least one more game on the sidelines. Tahj Brooks handled seven offensive snaps with Perine unavailable versus Pittsburgh in Week 11, his second-highest total of the season, though he logged only one carry for five yards while Chase Brown continued to handle a workhorse role.
