Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Low volume without starting QB
Gadsden brought in both of his targets for 23 yards in Sunday's 19-3 loss to the Broncos.
Gadsden was one of a handful of key players on offense allowed to take the field for the Chargers in Week 18. The 2025 fifth-round pick was able to add a couple of receptions to his rookie total, bringing his final line up to 49-664-3 in 15 appearances this regular season. While the tight end certainly surpassed expectations as a rookie, Gadsden's inconsistent play down the stretch makes him a risky DFS play in the wild-card round, even with QB Justin Herbert back under center.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Mixed bag in Week 17 loss
Gadsden brought in three of six targets for 32 yards and a touchdown in the Chargers' 20-16 loss to the Texans on Saturday.
Gadsden had two diametrically opposite experiences in the red zone Saturday, first having a ball bounce off his hands inside the five-yard line and landing in the hands of the Texans' Azeez Al-Shaair to extinguish a golden late first-half scoring opportunity. The rookie tight end then atoned to a degree with a one-yard touchdown grab late in the third quarter, his third career score and first since Week 8. Gadsden should continue filling a key role in the Week 18 road regular-season finale against the Broncos.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Another quiet game in win
Gadsden secured his lone target for seven yards in the Chargers' 34-17 win over the Cowboys on Sunday.
After a big four-game stretch from Weeks 6 to 9, Gadsden has crashed back to Earth in recent weeks. Over his last six games, Gadsden has compiled just 12 catches for 166 scoreless yards on 23 targets. He's devolved into an untrustworthy option at fantasy's weakest position ahead of next Saturday's date with a stingy Houston defense.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Team-high yardage total in win
Gadsden brought in four of five targets for 61 yards in the Chargers' 16-13 win over the Chiefs on Sunday.
Gadsden led the Chargers in receiving yards and tied for second in targets, also providing the team's second-longest catch of the afternoon (27 yards). Quentin Johnston's absence due to a groin injury may have benefitted the rookie tight end, who finished with his highest reception and receiving yardage totals since Week 9. Gadsden will take a 43-602-2 line on 60 targets into a Week 16 road matchup against the Cowboys.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Held quiet in Week 14
Gadsden finished with one reception for seven yards on four targets in Monday's 22-19 overtime win over the Eagles.
With a 62 percent snap share on the night, Gadsden once again handily paced Chargers tight ends in playing time, but it didn't translate into much production. Since recording at least five catches and 68 receiving yards in four straight games from Weeks 6 through 9, Gadsden has been limited to a 7-88-0 receiving line on 17 targets over the Chargers' ensuing four contests.

Chargers' Oronde Gadsden: Only one catch in win
Gadsden caught one of his two targets for 27 yards in the 31-14 win over the Raiders on Sunday.
Sunday included the rookie's fewest receptions in a game dating back to Week 5 and his second-lowest yardage total after breaking out against the Dolphins back in Week 6. Negative game scripts have largely impacted Gadsden, as the Chargers have either blown out opponents or been blown out themselves in most of their contests throughout the month of November. A matchup against the Eagles in Week 14 could be a remedy for more volume, but the status of quarterback Justin Herbert will be incredibly relevant, as the Pro Bowler will have surgery to repair a fracture in his left hand Monday, leaving his status uncertain for the critical bout.
