Copa America 2024 draw, schedule: USMNT to face Uruguay, Panama and Bolivia; Argentina get Chile

The Americans could not avoid one of the big teams in Pot 2

The draw for the 2024 Copa America is over and the United States know their opponents. The Americans were placed into Group C with Uruguay, Bolivia and Panama for next summer's tournament in the USA. Argentina, reigning champs, are in Group A and will face Peru, Chile and a team from Concacaf to be determined. 

Group B features Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, and Jamaica. The final group is Brazil, Colombia, Paraguay and a Concacaf team to be determined. The Copa America will open with Argentina facing a Concacaf team as one of Canada or Trinidad & Tobago will be their opposition in Atlanta while the USMNT will open against Bolivia. The one benefit of drawing Uruguay is that the United States will play them last in group stage play when they could have already qualified for the knockout stage but it will still offer quite a test for Gregg Berhalter which is exactly what this tournament is for. 

Honduras or Costa Rica will round out Group B.

Gregg Berhalter has arrived 

The tournament will be a big test for him as he's in the midst of his second World Cup cycle as head coach of the USMNT. After making the last 16 of the World Cup in Qatar, expectations are high to make it out of the group stage and potentially go on a run at Copa America.

With the page-turning to 2024 soon, the Copa America is going to be taking center stage for the United States men's national team and other Concacaf nations. Getting to join CONMEBOL for the first time since 2016, teams will have a chance to square off with Lionel Messi, Vinicius Junior and the best that South America has to offer. With the 2026 World Cup being hosted in the United States, Mexico and Canada, it will provide a chance for those nations to also play competitive games to make up for a lack of World Cup qualifiers although Canada still needs to win a play in game to make the tournament.
