Mets' Kodai Senga: Rehab outing set
Senga (calf) will throw 30-to-35 pitches over an inning or two with Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
The right-hander was hoping to make a rehab appearance with Syracuse this weekend before the end of the Triple-A season, and he's now on the schedule for Saturday. Assuming that appearance goes well, Senga could join the Mets in a relief capacity early next week for the final games of the regular season.

Mets' Francisco Lindor: Going through full workout Friday
Lindor (back) will attempt to go through a full slate of baseball activities pregame Friday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
Lindor is not in Friday's lineup versus the Phillies, as he will miss a fifth straight start with his back injury. However, if he comes out of Friday's pregame workout well, he will have a shot to be back in the Mets' lineup Saturday. Lindor has started just one out of the team's last seven contests after tweaking his back one week ago.

Mets' Jesse Winker: On bench versus lefty
Winker is out of the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
Winker has gone 3-for-33 through 15 games in September and will sit Friday as southpaw Cristopher Sanchez takes the mound for Philadelphia. Brandon Nimmo will shift to left field while Harrison Bader starts in center.

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Homers in second straight
Nimmo went 2-for-5 with a double, a homer, three RBI and two runs scored in Thursday's win over the Phillies.
Nimmo launched a two-run shot off Taijuan Walker in the bottom of the third and then came right back with an RBI double in the fourth to extend New York's lead to five runs. It marked the outfielder's sixth consecutive game with at least one hit, and he's now homered in three of his last six contests. Over that latter stretch he's batting .291 (7-for-24) with nine RBI and six runs scored.

Mets' Luis Severino: Fans seven in 11th win
Severino (11-6) picked up the win over the Phillies on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings while striking out seven.
Severino got off to a hot start, striking out five of the first eight batters he faced in the contest before allowing two runs in the third inning and another in the fourth. The right-hander generated 13 whiffs in the contest en route to posting at least seven strikeouts for the fifth time in his last eight outings. It marked Severino's fourth consecutive quality start, while he's also secured wins in each of his last four decisions (spanning seven starts).

Mets' Starling Marte: Sitting out Thursday
Marte is absent from the lineup for Thursday's contest against the Phillies, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports.
The Mets have been careful not to overload Marte with too much playing time since he returned from a knee injury last month. This is the third time he's been out of the lineup over the last five games, although he missed one of those due to a minor forearm issue. Jesse Winker is in right field for the series opener Thursday.

Mets' Francisco Lindor: Will be held out again Thursday
Lindor (back) will remain out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza indicated Wednesday that Lindor was unlikely to be ready to play in the series opener versus the Phillies, and Martino has confirmed that the National League MVP candidate will indeed miss his fourth straight start with a back injury. The good news is that Lindor did resume baseball activities Wednesday, per Martino, so progress is being made. Lindor noted Monday after being examined that he expected to miss anywhere from two to five days, and it's going to be toward the latter end of that timetable, at minimum. Luisangel Acuna has started at shortstop of the Mets in each of the last two contests.

Mets' Starling Marte: Posts 16th steal
Marte went 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Nationals.
Marte missed two games with a forearm injury after he was hit by a pitch Saturday, though he appeared off the bench Monday. He went 4-for-10 with two walks and three RBI during this three-game series against the Nationals. The veteran outfielder has maintained a .275/.326/.399 slash line with 16 steals on 17 attempts, seven home runs, 40 RBI and 42 runs scored over 86 contests in another injury-plagued campaign.

Mets' Luisangel Acuna: Another strong game
Acuna went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional RBI and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Nationals.
This was Acuna's third multi-hit effort in five major-league games, and he has homered in consecutive contests. He's filled in admirably at shortstop while Francisco Lindor deals with a back injury. If Acuna continues to hit well, he could push for playing time somewhere else once Lindor returns, though he'll have to stay hot at the plate with the Mets in the thick of the wild-card race.

Mets' Brandon Nimmo: Reaches 20-homer mark
Nimmo went 1-for-3 with a three-run home run, a walk and an additional run scored in Wednesday's 10-0 win over the Nationals.
Nimmo scored the first run of the Mets' nine-run outburst in the fourth inning, and he added a homer to finish the rally. This was just his second homer over the last 25 games, though it was enough to get him to the milestone of a second consecutive 20-homer campaign. The outfielder has also topped 80 RBI for the first time (81) despite a .227/.337/.398 slash line that represents his lowest marks in each category since 2019.

Mets' Jose Quintana: Dazzles in 10th win
Quintana (10-9) allowed two hits and two walks while striking out four over seven shutout innings to earn the win Wednesday over the Nationals.
Quintana has won four straight starts and has excelled over his last five outings. In that longer span, he has allowed just two runs (one earned) across 32 innings with a 20:9 K:BB. All six of Quintana's scoreless outings this year have come since the start of July. He lowered his ERA to 3.74 with a 1.24 WHIP and 126:61 K:BB through 166 innings over 30 starts this year.

Mets' Brett Baty: Back in action at Triple-A
Triple-A Syracuse reinstated Baty (finger) from the 7-day injured list Wednesday. Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.
Baty had been sidelined since late August with a fractured left index finger. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Wednesday that Baty playing again in the majors this season is "in play," per Tim Healey of Newsday. However, given his .633 OPS in 50 games with the Mets this season, it's unlikely he'll have much of a role even if he does get recalled. He'll make his return to the Triple-A lineup Wednesday against Charlotte as Syracuse's designated hitter.

Mets' Kodai Senga: Hopes for rehab outing this weekend
Senga (calf) hopes to make a one-inning rehab appearance with Triple-A Syracuse before their season ends Sunday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
If he's able to make the appearance and come out of it without any physical concerns, Senga could rejoin the Mets as a reliever as soon as Sept. 26, when he's first eligible for activation from the 60-day injured list. The right-hander has been shelved since late July with a high-grade left calf strain.
