Howard will not play in Friday's game against the Mavericks in order to rest, Calvin Watkins of ESPN.com reports.
Howard tallied eight points and 16 rebounds in 37 minutes in Wednesday's game, and is playing a full set of minutes whenever he takes the court. However, he is still being held out of certain games in order to keep him fresh, and the Rockets decided he would sit out the first of their upcoming back-to-back set this weekend. While Howard will not play Friday, he will return to action a night later against the Kings and start at center as he usually does.
