Mateo signed a major-league contract with the Rays on Wednesday, Francys Romero of BeisbolFR.com reports.

Mateo was cut by Atlanta over the weekend after clearing waivers, but he'll now receive a new opportunity to carve out a role for himself with the Rays. The 31-year-old has slashed .240/.285/.380 across 137 plate appearances this season and figures to bolster the team's infield depth while Ben Williamson (hamstring) is on the injured list.

May didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Padres, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out six.

A Xander Bogaerts solo homer in the third inning accounted for San Diego's lone run against May, who's now turned in back-to-back quality starts since joining the Brewers -- he's given up three runs on seven hits across 13 innings in that span. Over 23 starts (122 innings) between Milwaukee and St. Louis this year, May sports a 4.13 ERA with a 1.25 WHIP and 117:40 K:BB. He's currently in line to face the Mariners at home his next time out.

Carroll went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a triple and a second run scored in Wednesday's 6-4 loss to Colorado.

After tripling and scoring the game's first run in the opening inning, Carroll cut Arizona's deficit to 6-4 in the eighth with his 18th homer of the year and the 100th of his MLB career. Carroll has now gone deep in back-to-back contests after hitting just one home run in his prior 18 contests. Overall, Carroll is slashing .243/.338/.482 with 75 runs scored, 57 RBI and 16 stolen bases across 512 plate appearances this year.

Houser didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Astros, allowing two hits and a walk across six scoreless innings. He struck out five.

It was an impressive afternoon for Houser, as the right-hander logged his first quality start since May 17. The right-hander has given up just one run over his last two outings (11 innings), allowing eight hits while striking out nine in that span. Houser, who now sports a 4.28 ERA with a 1.32 WHIP across 103 innings this year, figures to remain in San Francisco's rotation following the departures of Robbie Ray and Tyler Mahle.

Hader turned in a perfect ninth inning to earn the save in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Giants.

Hader has been nearly untouchable of late, turning in nine straight hitless appearances (9.2 innings), issuing just two walks while striking out nine in that span. Hader improved to a perfect 17-for-17 in save chances this season while lowering his ERA to 0.96 with a 0.71 WHIP and 38:10 K:BB across 28 innings.

Highsmith was waived by the Suns on Wednesday, Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.com reports.

Highsmith appeared in only seven games for the Suns during the 2025-26 campaign, averaging 5.4 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.0 assists across 13.0 minutes. The 29-year-old has plenty of experience, and while he could find a new team ahead of the 2026-27 season, he likely won't see much playing time.

Westbrook announced his retirement from the NBA on Wednesday.

Westbrook is calling it a career after spending 18 years in the league. The nine-time All-Star was the 2016-17 MVP and is hanging it up as the NBA's all-time triple-double leader, compiling 209 triple-doubles over the course of his illustrious career. Westbrook, a future Hall of Famer, averaged 20.9 points, 8.0 assists, 6.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals per game across stints with the Thunder, Rockets, Wizards, Lakers, Clippers, Nuggets and Kings.

The Clippers waived Pedulla on Wednesday.

Los Angeles cut Pedulla loose to make space on the roster for Jamarion Sharp, who signed a two-way contract with the club. Pedulla averaged 4.4 minutes per game with the Clippers during the 2025-26 regular season and is now searching for other opportunities around the league ahead of training camp.

Sharp signed a two-way contract with the Clippers on Sunday, Lauren Rosen of FanDuel Sports Network SoCal reports.

Sharp spent the 2025-26 campaign in the G League with the Texas Legends, and he finished the season with averages of 7.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, 3.9 blocks and 1.0 steals in 25.1 minutes per tilt across 39 appearances. He's likely to spend most of his time with the Clippers' G League affiliate, the San Diego Clippers, in 2026-27.

Wallace signed a two-year contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv, the team announced Sunday.

Wallace will head overseas after spending last year on a standard deal with the Hawks. The 27-year-old guard appeared in 53 regular-season games (three starts) in 2025-26, averaging 3.5 points, 1.8 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 10.1 minutes per contest.

Penda could need an impressive training camp with the Magic to carve out a larger role in 2026-27.

Orlando kept virtually all of its core from 2025-26 intact, so a similar role could be in store for Penda in 2026-27. After averaging only 12.8 minutes per game last regular season, the 2025 second-rounder has Jamal Cain, Tristan da Silva and Jase Richardson as his primary threats for playing time ahead of camp.

Rizzo agreed to terms on a one-year contract with Kalmar HC of Sweden's HockeyAllsvenskan on Wednesday.

Rizzo hasn't appeared in an NHL game since being selected by the Hurricanes in the seventh round of the 2019 NHL Draft. A product of the University of Denver, the 25-year-old center will now give international hockey a try. If he can find his offensive upside, Rizzo may still have an outside chance of getting another NHL opportunity.

Addison signed a one-year contract with the KHL's Shanghai Dragons on Wednesday.

Addison had six goals, 31 points and 32 PIM in 65 regular-season appearances with AHL Utica in 2025-26. He became an unrestricted free agent after New Jersey decided not to tender him a qualifying offer. The 26-year-old has six goals, 50 points and 96 PIM in 152 career regular-season NHL outings, but he hasn't played at that level since 2023-24.

Miromanov agreed to terms on a two-year contract with SKA St. Petersburg on Friday, RDS.ca reports.

Miromanov played in just one NHL game last year in which he logged 17:49 of ice time for the Flames. The blueliner last played in the KHL back in 2020-21 when he was with Sochi HC. At this point, it seems unlikely Miromanov will get another shot at the NHL, though it can't be completely ruled out.

Grebenkin signed a two-year, $2.2 million contract with the Flyers on Thursday.

Grebenkin recovered from an upper-body injury over the summer, which had kept him out for 23 games (regular season and playoffs) to end 2025-26. He established himself as a regular when healthy, earning 14 points with 32 shots on net, 46 PIM and 86 hits over 55 regular-season outings last year. Grebenkin will be in the mix for bottom-six minutes again in 2026-27.

Fasching signed a one-year contract with SHL Skelleftea on Thursday.

Fasching recorded seven goals and 18 points in 65 regular-season outings with AHL Cleveland in 2025-26. The 31-year-old has accumulated 17 goals and 40 points across 175 career regular-season NHL appearances, but his shift to Europe might be a sign that he's played in his final NHL game.

Koivunen agreed to terms on an eight-year, $32 million contract with Pittsburgh on Thursday.

Considering Koivunen has logged just 47 career games in the NHL, the term on his new deal is somewhat surprising. The 23-year-old winger should be in the mix for an Opening Night roster spot heading into the 2026-27 campaign, but he could still end up in the minors at some point, making him a somewhat risky fantasy option.
