The Houston Texans travel to Nashville on Sunday to face the AFC South-leading Tennessee Titans. The Titans are 6.5-point favorites, down a half-point from the open. The over-under, or total number of points Vegas thinks will be scored, is 43, up a half-point after opening at 42.5.

Before you make any bets on Texans-Titans, you'll want to hear what SportsLine Stat Geek and CBS NFL Editor R.J. White has to say.

In Week 11, White told SportsLine readers to take the underdog Texans (+2) against the Cardinals. The result: Houston not only covered, but rolled to a 31-21 victory over Arizona.

That cash helped White, who is currently SportsLine's top NFL expert, to an insane 15-5 run on his past 20 picks involving the Texans. Anybody following those picks is up huge.

Part of his success: White has years of experience analyzing NFL statistics and trends, dating all the way back to Super Bowl XXV. He has already finished in the top two percent in the nation's most prestigious handicapping contest and is in the top seven percent this season. He clearly knows a bad NFL line when he sees one.

Now, he's gunning for 16-5 with a pick for Texans-Titans on Sunday. And he's sharing it over at SportsLine.

White knows the Titans have won five of their past six and are making a serious push toward an AFC South crown and a spot in the playoffs. The Titans use a rugged rushing attack spearheaded by DeMarco Murray and Derrick Henry to grind out yardage behind a stacked offensive line.

Defensively, they've improved this season, giving up 20 points or less in their past five wins. Veteran coordinator Dick LeBeau has helped the Titans jump all the way up to 11th in the NFL in total defense. That could be a bad sign for a Texans team that is struggling mightily on offense since the injury to quarterback Deshaun Watson.

But that doesn't mean the Titans will be able to cover a 6.5-point spread.

Tennessee is winning, but not dominating. Facing mostly mediocre competition on their current run, the Titans have only won by more than four points once. They've made their living making clutch plays late -- not blowing teams out.

The Texans, meanwhile, have lost four of five, but they've been keeping games competitive. In those four losses, just one came by more than one score.

And though the Texans have been decimated by injuries since that time, they will draw at least some confidence knowing that they blew the Titans out 57-14 in Week 4, setting a franchise record in points in the process.

Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who has quickly become a favorite target for new Texans quarterback Tom Savage, caught 10 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown in that win over the Titans. Tennessee still will struggle to cover him Sunday.

White has evaluated all of these circumstances and knows there's a critical stat no one is thinking about that ultimately determines the point-spread winner for Texans-Titans. He's sharing what it is over at SportsLine.
