Super Bowl Opening Night 2024 takeaways: 49ers fans out in full force for Super Bowl scene, big Vegas vibe

PARADISE, Nev. -- Super Bowl Week officially kicked off Monday as the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers took Allegiant Field for Opening Night. Dozens of big names, from Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce to Brock Purdy and Christian McCaffrey, answered dozens of questions throughout the evening, but only after first making a parade-like entrance before more than 23,000 roaring NFL fans.

You can find all the best videos and soundbites from Opening Night festivities below, but first, here are some immediate takeaways from Monday night's prime-time affair in Las Vegas:

49ers fans are loud and proud

There was no official measurement, but all indications are that San Francisco faithful dominated the Allegiant Stadium stands on Monday, with thunderous boos echoing out whenever prominent Chiefs like Mahomes and Travis Kelce appeared on the big screen. 49ers stars like Purdy and coach Kyle Shanahan, meanwhile, drew roaring ovations.

Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones had fun taunting the crowd throughout the night, eliciting even more ire from 49ers fans in the process. Stay tuned to see if San Francisco is just as well-represented for the big game itself.

Travis Kelce spills on Jason's future

Plenty of the questions fired Kelce's way had to do with you-know-who -- none other than Taylor Swift. And the star tight end was plenty complimentary of his celebrity girlfriend. But perhaps his most revealing answers came in response to questions about his other celebrity partner, brother Jason Kelce. Multiple times Kelce reiterated that Jason isn't officially retired despite reports otherwise, and when asked by CBS Sports whether he expects Jason to suit up for the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 1 of the 2024 season, Travis was fairly positive about that happening.

Now it's up to the elder Kelce to prove his brother right.

The Las Vegas spunk

What would an Opening Night in Sin City be without a little splash of colorful characters? Allegiant Stadium wasn't just home to the NFL stars on Monday. It also featured special appearances by the Blue Man Group, Bruce Buffer and Carrot Top, with Buffer welcoming the players onto the field with his booming voice and Carrot Top even asking Kelce to trade Super Bowl tickets for his concert tickets. A parade of both cheerleaders and costumed creatures was also on hand to kick off the night.
