Dolphins' Caleb Douglas: Gets chunk gain on one catch
Douglas secured one of two targets for 28 yards in the Dolphins' 20-7 preseason loss to the Commanders on Friday.
The rookie third-round pick opened the game with the starting offense and was targeted incomplete deep on Malik Willis' third pass attempt of the night. However, Willis went right back to Douglas on his next dropback, and the duo connected for a 28-yard gain on third down to put the ball in Commanders territory. Douglas brings impressive size and speed and has been running with the first-team offense in recent training camp practices, and Friday's cameo certainly continued to buttress his case for a sizable role right out of the gate in his NFL career.

Dolphins' Caleb Douglas: Listed with first-team offense
Douglas is listed as a starting wide receiver on the Dolphins' first unofficial depth chart of training camp, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Douglas joined fellow WRs Malik Washington and Jalen Tolbert on the listed first-team offense, while Tutu Atwell, Kevin Coleman and Jalen Reagor composed the second team. Douglas was selected in the third round of this year's draft, 75th overall, ahead of position mates Chris Bell (third round, 94th overall) and Coleman (fifth round, 177th overall). Both Bell (knee, active/non-football injury list) and Coleman (undisclosed) have missed time in training camp, perhaps aiding Douglas' rise, but it's somewhat surprising to see him ahead of the veteran Atwell. Douglas will aim to put good tape together during the preseason slate to solidify his case.

Dolphins' Caleb Douglas: Experiencing early highs and lows
Douglas has had some impressive moments during training camp but has been inconsistent so far, C. Isaiah Smalls II of the Miami Herald reports.
Douglas has a prime opportunity to secure a prominent role among a Miami receiving corps that parted ways with both Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek Hill (knee - ACL) during the offseason. Head coach Jeff Hafley said Monday that he's been "impressed" by Douglas but also indicated that the rookie wideout has "a ways to go for what we expect of him." After being drafted in the third round of April's NFL Draft, Douglas has naturally received high expectations, and he landed in a great spot in terms of opportunity, as the Dolphins don't have a clear top WR in a group that also includes Malik Washington, Jalen Tolbert and Tutu Atwell near the top of the potential pecking order.

Dolphins' Caleb Douglas: Ready for training camp
Douglas passed his conditioning test Tuesday and is all set for training camp, Marcel Louis-Jacques of ESPN.com reports.
The third-round rookie out of Texas Tech had "tweaked something" during the Dolphins' mandatory minicamp, but the wide receiver has since recovered from the issue. Douglas' speed and size could provide a solid boundary presence for quarterback Malik Willis. The 6-foot-4 receiver will need to beat out quite a few players, including fellow rookies Chris Bell (knee) and Kevin Coleman, to receive a decent offensive snap share in 2026.

Dolphins' Caleb Douglas: Dealing with minor injury
Dolphins coach Jeff Hafley said Thursday that Douglas "tweaked something" during Wednesday's practice, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Hafley doesn't expect the injury to be a long-term concern. Taken with the 75th overall pick this year, Douglas joins a WR room that's widely viewed as the weakest in the league. He'll thus have a chance to compete for immediate playing time if he's back to full strength before training camp. With 4.39 speed, at 6-foot-4, 206 pounds, Douglas could have some value to Miami's offense even if he's just running clear-out routes.
