Clemson's defense of its national title got off to a strong start as the Tigers took a 28-3 lead over Kent State with them to the locker room on Saturday afternoon. But while the team may be focused on the 2017 season, the Clemson band wanted to teach us a history lesson.

More specifically, it wanted to remind Ohio State of recent history.

The band got into an interesting formation during its halftime performance.

What's that 31-0 about? Well, before Clemson beat Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship last season, it had to get through Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl. And it did, embarrassing the Buckeyes 31-0 that day.

The band remembers, and it wants to make sure Ohio State does, too.

Of course, the band didn't just troll Ohio State on Saturday. It also spelled out the name "Dabo" for Clemson coach Dabo Swinney, and then it busted out the word "champs."

While I don't believe there's a award for it, we have to give the Clemson band the Best Troll Job By A Marching Band In Week One title for 2017. Make room in the trophy case, Tigers.
