Rangers' Kyle Funkhouser: Agrees to deal with Rangers

Funkhouser signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Thursday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.

Funkhouser missed all of the 2022 campaign with a shoulder ailment which eventually required surgery in July. Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News indicates the reliever will be ready to contribute at some point during the second half of 2023. Funkhouser has shown some ability when healthy, including 2021 when he posted a 3.42 ERA over 57 appearances. It's a worthy gamble for the Rangers on a minor-league pact.
