We're starting our draft prep for the 2022 Fantasy season already, and this is the initial reveal of the quarterback rankings from our staff. A lot will change between now and August when your Fantasy drafts are happening, but it's never too early to start planning ahead.

With that in mind, let's see what the quarterback rankings could look like in 2022. But first, let's look back at what happened in 2021 with the Average Draft Position compared to the actual finish of the quarterbacks this past season.

CBS Sports Average Draft Position for quarterbacks:

  1. Patrick Mahomes 11.9
  2. Josh Allen 16.9
  3. Lamar Jackson 33.9
  4. Kyler Murray 35.7
  5. Aaron Rodgers 41.7
  6. Justin Herbert 43.8
  7. Russell Wilson 49.5
  8. Dak Prescott 51.1
  9. Tom Brady 51.9
  10. Ryan Tannehill 79.1
  11. Matthew Stafford 86.1
  12. Jalen Hurts 92.1

Final 2021 top 12 quarterbacks based on points per game:

  1. Josh Allen 27.9
  2. Tom Brady 27.1
  3. Justin Herbert 26.8
  4. Patrick Mahomes 25.6
  5. Aaron Rodgers 25.5
  6. Kyler Murray 24.9
  7. Dak Prescott 24.7
  8. Matthew Stafford 24.3
  9. Joe Burrow 23.9
  10. Kirk Cousins 22.9
  11. Jalen Hurts 22.9
  12. Lamar Jackson 22.6

Brady proved to be among the best values at any position since he was drafted as the No. 9 quarterback but finished second based on his points per game. It's amazing what he continues to accomplish, even at 44.

Some other great value picks among quarterbacks were Burrow, who was the No. 13 quarterback drafted in 2021, and Cousins, who was No. 16 based on ADP. As you'll see below, Burrow will be drafted as a top-10 quarterback in all leagues in 2022, but Cousins will again be a late-round pick and likely return great value one more time.

Early Rankings: QB | RB | WR | TE

Jackson was among the bigger busts at any position, and he wasn't able to finish the season due to an ankle injury, missing the final four games. But Jackson is someone we're willing to trust again in 2022 as you'll see below. Wilson and Tannehill also were quarterback busts, and it will be interesting to see how Fantasy managers approach Wilson on Draft Day -- if he remains in Seattle.

For the six of us, we all have either Allen or Mahomes at No. 1, with Allen in the majority. Only Adam and Dave put Mahomes in the top spot.

Dan was the only one without Allen or Mahomes ranked in the top two, and he has Murray second overall, with Mahomes at No. 3. Adam has Murray ranked third, while Dave has Murray the lowest at No. 9.

Herbert is No. 3 for me, Heath and Dave, while Chris has Jackson at No. 3. Dave is the lowest on Jackson at No. 8.

Adam and Dan don't have Hurts in their top 12, but they both have Wilson ahead of Hurts. Chris also has Wilson in his top 12.

Dave and Dan have Watson in their top 12, and he could easily move into the top 12 for all of us with whatever happens to him this offseason. He will be among the biggest difference makers at any position in 2022.

Some other outliers for us include me and Adam with Lance at No. 12, and Heath has Fields at No. 12. Both second-year quarterbacks should be popular on Draft Day next season.
