Heinen leads AHL Providence with five goals and 10 points through 11 playoff games to date.
The 21-year-old forward has been working the left wing on a line with Jordan Szwarz and Wayne Simpson, and Heinen's 10 points have him tied for second in the Calder Cup playoffs. He didn't record a point in eight games with the big club this past season, but Heinen finished the AHL's regular-season slate with 14 goals and 44 points in 64 games. With his strong postseason run in mind, it's not hard to imagine the University of Denver product making a run at an NHL roster spot to open the 2017-18 season.
