DeBrincat only has 18 goals and 45 points through 70 games this season. DeBrincat racked up 41 goals and 76 points in 82 games last campaign, and he was rewarded for his efforts with a three-year, $19.2 million contract extension in October. The good news is the dimunitive winger's steep dropoff in production can almost entirely be attributed to the career-low 8.7 shooting percentage he's registered this year. If he was converting at the same clip as he did in 2018-19 (18.6 percent), he'd currently have 38 goals. Although it may be unwise to expect DeBrincat to post a shooting percentage that high in 2020-21, there's a ton of room for positive regression, so he'll be a prime bounce-back candidate heading into next year's fantasy drafts.
DeBrincat dished out three assists and had three shots with two PIM in Wednesday's 6-2 win over San Jose. All three of DeBrincat's helpers came during a second period in which the Blackhawks turned a 1-0 deficit into a 3-1 lead. He figured in on power-play tallies by Duncan Keith and Patrick Kane, then he set up an even-strength strike by Brandon Saad. The outburst gave DeBrincat 45 points (18 goals, 27 assists) in 70 games this season.
DeBrincat scored twice on a team-leading six shots in a 4-3 win over Edmonton on Thursday. DeBrincat twice threaded long-range shots through traffic -- both on screens provided by linemate Drake Caggiula -- to register his 17th and 18th goals of the season. DeBrincat snapped a five-game goal drought and pushed his season point total to 42 in 67 games. After scoring 41 goals a year ago, the 22-year-old has seen his shooting percentage plummet from 18.6 in 2018-19 to 9.3 this season.
DeBrincat scored a power-play goal and an overtime winner with eight shots on net in a 2-1 victory over the Predators on Friday. After his 40-goal campaign last season, the 2019-20 season has been a disappointment for DeBrincat, but he did shine Friday. He now has four goals in the last eight games, though he also has a minus-8 rating during that stretch. DeBrincat has 16 goals and 39 points with a minus-12 rating in 61 games this season, putting him far behind his 41-goal and 76-point pace from 2018-19.
DeBrincat scored a goal in Saturday's 8-4 win over the Flames. DeBrincat's tally at 17:47 of the second period would stand as the game-winner, his second such tally this year. The 22-year-old has been plagued with bad luck, as he's shot just 8.5 percent compared to a career rate of 14.7 percent. The winger has 13 tallies, 37 points and 165 shots through 58 games.
