  • Thompson scored a goal and an assist in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Islanders. The 24-year-old breakout star isn't slowing down with the Sabres long eliminated from the playoffs. Thompson has multiple points in three straight games and an active six-game point streak, and with two contests remaining on the schedule he sits three goals shy of 40 for the season, and three points short of 70.

  • Thompson had two assists in Thursday's 5-2 win over New Jersey. Thompson helped the Sabres pull away down the stretch, assisting on goals by Owen Power and Jeff Skinner as Buffalo's lead grew from 3-2 to 5-2. Power's goal was the first of the defenseman's young career. Thompson has seven points in his last five games and 65 on the season, as he's emerged as a player to build around for Buffalo up front along with Power and Rasmus Dahlin on defense.

  • Thompson scored two goals on four shots in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Flyers. Thompson, who's working on a four-game point streak, potted Buffalo's final two goals. His first tally put the Sabres up 4-2 in the second period and turned into the game-winner when the Flyers got one back in the third. Thompson proceeded to restore the two-goal advantage with an empty-netter in the final minute, raising his season goal total to 36.

  • Thompson totaled a goal and an assist in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Hurricanes. Thompson opened the scoring 3:49 into the first and helped Alex Tuch make it 2-0 just 2:36 later, but it was all Carolina after that. With four goals and two assists during his current four-game point streak, Thompson has raised his career-high totals to 32 goals and 57 points. The growth in his game has been remarkable considering Thompson entered the season with just 35 points through 145 games.

  • Thompson scored two goals in Friday's 4-3 win over the Pedators. Both tallies came back-to-back in the first period as Thompson helped the Sabres grab a 3-1 lead. The breakout star is hot once again, scoring seven goals and 11 points over the last 10 games, and the surge has given the 24-year-old his first career 30-goal campaign -- not bad for a player who came into the season with only 18 goals in 145 NHL games.
