  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Perfect from perimeter in loss

Griffin racked up 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-3 3Pt), three assists, two rebounds and one steal over 23 minutes during Saturday's 122-118 loss to the Hornets. Griffin was a perfect from downtown and has now scored in double digits in four of his past five games. However, his peripheral numbers during that same five-game stretch -- he's averaging 2.2 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.2 steals and 0.0 blocks -- aren't strong enough to make him a pickup outside of deeper leagues.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Scores in double figures

Griffin supplied 13 points (5-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt) and four rebounds in 23 minutes during Saturday's 114-103 victory over the Raptors. Griffin found success from beyond the arc, where he scored nine of his 13 points. This marks his first night scoring in double figures since Dec. 30, when he put up 13 points against the Lakers. Griffin saw an uptick in minutes Saturday night with Bogdan Bogdanovic (quad) sidelined, but he'll likely go back to logging around 15 minutes per night once Bogdanovic returns to health.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Returns to bench Monday

Griffin will come off the bench during Monday's contest against the Warriors, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Griffin started Atlanta's previous two contests but will return to his usual reserve role with De'Andre Hunter (ankle) back in the mix. The rookie out of Duke is averaging 10.5 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.1 assists and 1.0 steals over the first 32 appearances of his career.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Scores 13 points in start

Griffin totaled 13 points (5-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt), one rebound and two assists across 24 minutes during Friday's 130-121 loss to the Lakers. Griffin remained in the starting lineup Friday but fell short of the mark when it comes to fantasy value. Despite cobbling together an impressive rookie season, Griffin has slowed of late, barely putting up top-250 value over the latest stretch with single-digit scoring in three of his past four outings. He can be utilized as a three-point streamer, but anything beyond that is a little risky.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Starting role yields very little

Griffin chipped in four points (2-10 FG, 0-3 3Pt), four rebounds, two assists and two steals over 24 minutes during Wednesday's 108-107 loss to the Nets. Griffin moved into the starting lineup Wednesday, one of three fill-in starters for the Hawks. Despite the promotion, he was unable to deliver anything outside of a pair of steals. While he has shown flashes this season, he is simply too inconsistent to warrant allocating a permanent 12-team roster spot. He is fine to stream for now, but as soon as the Hawks start getting their guys back, he can be safely sent back to the waiver wire.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Gets starting nod

Griffin is in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Nets, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Griffin will replace Bogdan Bogdanovic in the starting lineup Wednesday, despite Bogdanovic being available. Griffin is averaging 14.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.4 assists in 30.3 minutes across his eight games as a starter this season.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Big hand in win over Magic

Griffin racked up 19 points (8-13 FG, 3-4 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists and one steal over 25 minutes during Monday's 126-125 victory over Orlando. Griffin has bested Monday's effort just twice all season, and he added a season-best seven boards to boot, securing a productive fantasy night. While Griffin dropped out of the starting five for the last two games, his production hasn't slowed too much, and he's averaging 15.4 points per game over the last five tilts. The rookie first-round pick has earned himself an expansive role off the bench, but he's mainly a bench piece, at best, in most fantasy formats at this point.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Little to offer Friday

Griffin registered 13 points (5-8 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two rebounds and two assists in 28 minutes during Friday's 125-106 victory over the Hornets. Griffin moved back to the bench Friday and bumbled his way to 13 points with little else. After a period of relevance, Griffin is now outside the top 200 over the past two weeks, offering upside in steals and three-pointers only. Given he has been unable to produce, even with a number of pivotal pieces on the sideline, managers are well within their rights to move on at this point.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Moves to bench

Griffin will come off the bench Friday against the Hornets, Sam Perley of the Hornets' official site reports. Coach Nate McMillan is changing the starting five, sending Griffin and Jalen Johnson to the bench, while inserting Bogdan Bogdanovic and Trent Forrest. However, Griffin should still see a significant role. Over the past 15 games, he's averaged 12.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.3 steals and 1.1 assists in 26.7 minutes.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Career high in minutes

Griffin ended with 17 points (7-17 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, two assists and one block in 40 minutes during Sunday's 123-122 overtime win against Chicago. Griffin kept a spot in the starting lineup even with De'Andre Hunter (hip) returning Sunday night. The rookie out of Duke ended up playing a career-high 40 minutes in the overtime win, and he even knocked down a shot at the buzzer to give Atlanta the win. Griffin struggled mightily from beyond the arc but still managed 17 points. He's a solid add in most formats and should continue to see big minutes going forward.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Rookie impresses again

Griffin ended with 24 points (11-16 FG, 2-5 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and three steals over 35 minutes during Friday's 117-109 win over Denver. Griffin has been one of the most productive rookies in the league this season, and while he was entrusted with a more significant role due to the absence of De'Andre Hunter (hip), he stepped up and finished as Atlanta's second-best scoring effort behind Dejounte Murray. Griffin made his second start and posted his season-best scoring mark, and his performances have improved significantly over the last few weeks. The former Duke star has scored in double digits in six of his last eight appearances.

Griffin isn't in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Kings, Lauren L. Williams of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Griffin will move back to the bench with De'Andre Hunter (illness) returning to the lineup. Griffin is averaging 8.4 points and 2.0 rebounds in 16.4 minutes across the first 13 games of his rookie season.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Turns in another strong showing

Griffin amassed 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-6 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and three steals in 36 minutes during Monday's 114-102 loss to Cleveland. Griffin put together a stellar shooting night, knocking down three shots from beyond the arc for the first time this season. He's put up 17 points in back-to-back matchups and has notably totaled four steals over that brief stretch. Griffin drew his first career start Monday but figures to head back to the bench when De'Andre Hunter (illness) gets the green light to return.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Making first NBA start

Griffin will start Monday's game against the Cavs, Brad Rowland of Locked On Hawks reports. With De'Andre Hunter (illness) sidelined, Griffin will move into the lineup for the first start of his NBA career. The rookie out of Duke has emerged as a key bench piece of late, most recently posting 17 points and five rebounds in Saturday's 124-122 win over the Raptors. Earlier this month, Griffin went for 24 points (10-15 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT) in 31 minutes in a win over Milwaukee.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Surprising source of points

Griffin ended Saturday's 124-122 overtime victory over Toronto with 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-6 3Pt), five rebounds, one assist, one block and one steal in 30 minutes. Griffin shot over 50 percent from the field and also turned in his best scoring performance since Nov. 7 against Milwaukee, when he put up 24 points. He's also seeing an increase in playing time of late, logging 17, 21 and now 30 minutes in his last three matchups, respectively.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Flashes hot shooting

Griffin finished Friday's 136-112 victory over Detroit with 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt) across six minutes. Griffin has logged just 12 minutes across two contests thus far, but the rookie has poured in 18 points (7-10 Fg, 4-6 3Pt) over that span. Griffin dealt with an ankle injury throughout training camp, and he was rested Wednesday as Atlanta exercises an abundance of caution. That being said, the 19-year-old's role could ramp up in the coming days.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Returns to live practice

Griffin participated in live practice Friday for the first time since tweaking his ankle, Brad Rowland of PeachtreeHoops.com reports. Griffin didn't participate in Wednesday's live practice, but it seems that this was only a minor injury. The rookie should be in line to receive minutes this preseason.

  • Hawks' AJ Griffin: Nursing ankle injury

Hawks head coach Nate McMillan said Wednesday that Griffin "tweaked" his ankle and has been limited in practice the last couple of days, Brad Rowland of PeachtreeHoops.com reports. Griffin didn't participate in Wednesday's open practice due to the ankle issue, but it doesn't sound like a big concern considering he's still participating in workouts. As long as the rookie can log some live sessions with the team soon, he should be ready for the preseason when it begins Oct. 6.
