Josh Allen backed up his breakout 2020 season with an even better one in 2021, throwing for 4,407 yards and rushing for 763 yards -- a career-high for one of the league's most prolific running quarterbacks. Allen, who has 31 rushing touchdowns in his first four seasons, is one of the league top dual-threat quarterbacks, yet Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott wants him to use his prolific arm more and his legs less in 2022.

"We're always trying to evolve -- on the field, off the field, schematically -- and in this case with Josh's running or the amount of times that we run him, we have to continue to evolve that way and making sure we're doing right by him by doing right by our team," McDermott said at the NFL Owners Meetings Sunday, via NFL.com. "So, we are going to keep a close eye on that. But the one thing we will never take from Josh is his competitive nature and spirit. So, he's gonna do it when he's gonna do it."

Allen is the first quarterback in league history to throw for 4,000 yards and rush for 750 yards in a season, finishing second in the league in yards per carry (6.3) with six rushing touchdowns to his name. He's the first quarterback in NFL history to have three straight seasons of eight rushing touchdowns. He also led the Bills in rushing yards in the postseason (134).

Allen has carried the ball 100 times in each of the last three seasons, a price he seems to be willing to pay to help the Bills win.

"I don't know if he likes to take it," McDermott said. "I don't want to say that. That's a better question for him, but he doesn't shy away from mixing it up from time to time."
