Analysis

Paul Skenes faces off with Freddy Peralta and expectations are far higher for this Mets team than the Pirates this year. With that said, there's been a lot of love for the Pirates this offseason thanks to some of the moves they've made in the lineup, and they'll need the help to take down the 2025 NL Wins leader today. The F5 is -130 for the Pirates, yet the full game has them as the underdog. The bullpen for Pittsburgh may be thin but they do at least have a few solid arms and everyone is fresh and ready to go. I have the Pirates ML odds closer to -110, leaving us some value here.

Analysis

Every MLB season I try and identify one guy who simply cannot hit and hammer him often on Under 0.5 knocks in a game. It was mega-profitable two years ago on another White Sox scrub in Martin Maldonado. While the Pale Hose are definitely on the right track back to contention, can't they do better than Everson Pereira starting in their outfield Opening Day? In 158 career ABs in the Show, he's hitting .146 with 68 strikeouts. Good luck getting a legit hit (i.e. not a duck snort) off fire-balling Brewers righty Jacob Misiorowski, although obviously he will only be in there five innings or so.

Analysis

Big number outside of Coors Field and I guess Sacramento for a F5 total. The Thursday game total is set at either 8.5 or 9, so this should be 4.5 in my mind and is at many of our books. The winds will be blowing out some at Wrigley, but it also may rain. Cubs pitcher Matt Boyd was lights out at Wrigley in 2025 with a 2.51 ERA and had that exact same ERA in two starts overall vs. Washington. The Cubbies are down one big bat with Seiya Suzuki opening on the IL. The Nats were a bottom-third offense in 2025 and should be again. Note that the teams are then off Friday so we should see plenty of relievers Thursday.

I'm jumping on the Orioles early with Trevor Rogers scheduled for Opening Day. I think this closes around -180. If Rogers pitches like he did last season, getting him -162 at home will be a distant memory. I also think the O's rebound in a big way this season, while I have the Twins rated as one of the worst teams in the AL. A little Opening Day value on Baltimore.
