Syracuse's Jim Boeheim said he has to "coach for five or six more years" while speaking to a crowd at the annual 'Cuse Awards this week, which suggests the Hall of Fame coach could be on the sideline through the 2022-23 season.

Boeheim is 72 years old.

He would be 78 during the 2022-23 season.

Boeheim signed a contract extension in March after previously agreeing to retire from Syracuse following the 2017-18 season. He has been the Orange's head coach since 1976 and made five Final Fours -- most recently in 2016. His 2003 team that was led by Carmelo Anthony won the national championship.

It's worth noting that Boeheim's stated timeline of "five or six more years" basically lines up with his youngest son's presumed college basketball career. Buddy Boeheim, as NunesMagician.com pointed out, will graduate high school in 2018 and could theoretically play at Syracuse through 2022.
