The Brewers placed Severino (suspension) on the restricted list Tuesday.
The transaction was made Tuesday after Severino was handed an 80-game suspension for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. Severino won't count toward the Brewers' 40-man roster while he serves the suspension. The Brewers have since acquired Victor Caratini from the Padres to serve as their No. 2 catcher behind Omar Narvaez.
