McCown will compete with Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg during training camp for the starting quarterback job, ESPN.com's Rich Cimini reports.

McCown signed a one-year contract with the Jets back in March, and while it has always been expected that he will be the Week 1 starter, coach Todd Bowles made it clear Wednesday that it will be an open competition. Given Petty's struggles in his starting opportunities late last season and the team's lack of trust in the unproven Hackenberg, McCown certainly has to be viewed as the frontrunner.
