Colts' Braden Smith: Suffers groin injury Saturday
Smith has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's preseason game against Green Bay due to a groin injury, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Smith was hurt sometime during the first half. Though he's been ruled out for the remainder of the contest, it's not yet clear how severe the groin issue is or if the injury could threaten his status for Week 1 of the regular season. Smith has had trouble staying on the field in recent campaigns but is slated to be an important component of Indy's offensive line, as he's tabbed for the starting right-tackle role in 2025.

Colts' Braden Smith: Reworks deal to stay in Indy
Smith (personal) agreed to terms Monday on a revised contract that will keep him with the Colts for the 2025 season, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 Indianapolis reports.
The exact terms of Smith's new deal aren't yet disclosed, but the veteran offensive tackle will become a free agent in 2026. He had been set to count nearly $20 million against the cap prior to reworking his contract. Smith missed the final five games of the 2024 regular season for personal reasons, and injuries caused him to miss seven games in 2023.

Smith (personal) intends to play next season, but the Colts aren't certain to keep him on the roster, Joel A. Erickson of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Smith missed the final five games of the 2024 season while dealing with a personal matter, and he sat out seven games in 2023 due to injuries. The offensive tackle has been an effective starter when healthy, and he's slated to account for $19.75 million against the Colts' salary cap next season, the final year of the four-year contract he signed in 2021.

Colts' Braden Smith: Officially ruled out for Week 15
Colts head coach Shane Steichen said Friday that Smith (personal) is ruled out for Sunday's game against the Cowboys.
Smith will miss a second consecutive contest due to a personal matter. In his stead, Matt Goncalves looks set to start at right tackle once again. That could impede Indianapolis' ability to keep Anthony Richardson upright versus an imposing Broncos defensive front.
