Brendan Donovan SEA 2B
Mariners' Brendan Donovan: Hoping for brief IL stint
21h agoThe Mariners are optimistic that Donovan (groin) will be able to avoid a lengthy stay on the 10-day injured list, Adam Jude of the Seattle Times reports.
Donovan landed on the 10-day injured list Monday after missing Seattle's previous two matchups due to the left groin injury. "It doesn't seem like it's going to be a longer-term situation," said manager Dan Wilson. "But again, we just kind of have to assess it as we go." Wilson also mentioned that Donovan's groin injury seems to be related to a sports hernia, which required surgery last October and forced him to miss the last month of the 2025 season while with St. Louis. "This is just something that we're going to take as cautiously as we can. It's early and we want to give him the best chance to get back and be 100%," noted Wilson. An official timetable for Donovan's return should come into focus after he starts to make progress in his rehab.

1d agoKansas City placed India on the 10-day injured list Monday due to a left shoulder subluxation.
India hadn't started in any of the Royals' last three games, but it's not clear if his recent absences from the lineup were performance-related, a result of the injury or a combination of both. In any event, India won't be eligible for activation until April 29, clearing the way for Michael Massey to make regular starts at second base for at least the next week. The Royals should have more information regarding the severity of India's injury along with a potential timeline for his return in the coming days.

-
Matthew Boyd CHC SP
Cubs' Matthew Boyd: Will start Wednesday
2h agoThe Cubs will activate Boyd (biceps) from the 15-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
The move will likely be made official at some point Wednesday. Boyd was always tracking toward starting this week after he was shelved 15 days ago with a left biceps strain. After Boyd was roughed up in his Opening Day nod against the Nationals, allowing six runs over 3.2 innings, the left-hander bounced back with a win April 1 against the Angels. He has a 6.75 ERA, but Boyd's 1.85 FIP over 9.1 innings suggests he should have seen better results. Boyd struck out 17 and walked just three across his two starts.

Giants' Jose Butto: Moves to 60-day IL
3h agoThe Giants transferred Butto (arm) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday.
Butto has already been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery Saturday to repair an artery in his arm, so moving to 60-day IL has no impact on his timeline. Carlos Rodon NYY SP
Yankees' Carlos Rodon: Starting rehab assignment Friday
3h agoRodon (elbow/hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with High-A Hudson Valley on Friday, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

-
Daniel Palencia CHC RP
Cubs' Daniel Palencia: MRI confirms lat strain
3h agoManager Craig Counsell said Tuesday that Palencia underwent an MRI that revealed a lat strain, Patrick Mooney of The Athletic reports.
Palencia initially landed on the injured list Friday with a left oblique strain, but imaging has now confirmed him to be dealing with a lat issue. Counsell noted that the 26-year-old reliever is responding very well to treatment and could begin throwing by the time the Cubs begin their weekend series in Los Angeles. If his rehab continues to progress smoothly, he may be cleared to return to Chicago's bullpen in about two weeks.

The 29-year-old is batting .368 (7-for-19) since being added to the Blue Jays' big-league roster, but all seven knocks have been singles and he has only one RBI. With George Springer (toe) and Addison Barger (ankles) both inching closer to returns, Jimenez's time with Toronto might be running out.

-
Shohei Ohtani LAD DH
Dodgers' Shohei Ohtani: Notches first steal
19h agoOhtani went 1-for-4 with two walks, two runs and a stolen base in a 12-3 win against the Rockies on Monday.
Ohtani singled in the third inning to extend his on-base streak to 52 games and reached base twice more before the game was over. Of significance for fantasy managers who roster the two-way star, Ohtani also attempted his first stolen base of the season and successfully made it into second base. The reigning NL MVP has been somewhat quiet in the power department with a modest (by his standards) five homers and 11 RBI through 22 games, but he's also logged a .402 OBP and .908 OPS while recording a 0.50 ERA and 0.72 WHIP with an 18:6 K:BB over 18 innings on the mound, so he's done plenty to help Los Angeles achieve a league-best 16-6 record.

Marlins' Christopher Morel: Closing in on rehab assignment
2d agoMorel (oblique) is expected to begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Jacksonville during the upcoming week, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports.
The 26-year-old was given an estimated timeline of 4-to-6 weeks when he landed on the injured list in late March, and Morel looks to be eyeing a return near the short end of that window with a shot at activation before the end of April. Once he's reinstated, Morel may face competition for starts at first base from Connor Norby, though Norby could also move across the diamond and unseat the struggling Graham Pauley as the Marlins' primary third baseman.
