Royals' Michael Massey: Hits two-run shot
Massey went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Thursday's loss against the Tigers. Massey jumped on a hanging sinker from Sawyer Gipson-Long in the top of the third inning and sent it into the stands in right field, putting the Royals up 3-0. He later added a single but was left stranded, giving him his sixth multi-hit game this month. The second baseman is now up to 15 home runs on the season, with five of them coming in September.... Massey is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Guardians. Massey's bat has come alive in September with an .892 OPS and four homers in 13 games, but he'll receive a day off after going 0-for-3 with a walk, an RBI and a run Monday. Nick Loftin will man the keystone and bat sixth against Cleveland lefty Logan Allen.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting out first game
Massey is not in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the White Sox. Royals' Michael Massey: Swipes bag Sunday
Massey went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base in Sunday's loss to the Cubs. Massey kicked things off with an RBI-single in the first inning and wound up stealing second before the frame concluded. The 25-year-old has posted three multi-hit efforts over his last seven games and has racked up five RBI over that span. Though his numbers aren't spectacular for the season, Massey has quietly been productive over the last month of games. Since July 21, he's hitting .275/.306/.500 with six homers, 19 RBI, 28 runs and a 5:12 BB:K. Massey has hit third in the lineup every day since Aug. 7, including three starts against same-handed pitchers.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Goes deep in win
Massey went 1-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-5 win over the Phillies. Massey's long ball sparked a sixth-inning rally for the Royals. The second baseman is hitting .213 over 18 games since the All-Star break, but he's swatted five homers and three doubles among 13 hits in that span. For the season, he's at a .218/.276/.364 slash line with nine homers, five steals, 33 RBI and 23 runs scored through 83 contests. He hit third Friday, just the third time all year he's been in the top third of the order.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Nabs steal in loss
Massey went 1-for-3 with a stolen base and a run scored in Tuesday's 5-1 loss to the Guardians. It was another quiet game for the Royals' offense, but Massey was at least able to provide a spark. Four of the team's five hits came from the bottom third of the order. The second baseman hasn't run much -- his steal Tuesday was his fourth of the season and first since May 27. Massey is slashing .215/.268/.343 with seven home runs, 29 RBI, 20 runs scored, seven doubles and a triple through 75 contests. Despite the lackluster hitting, he continues to see a majority of the playing time at the keystone.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting versus lefty
Massey is out of the lineup for Monday's contest in Cleveland. The 25-year-old will begin this one on the bench as left-handed Logan Allen toes the rubber for the Guardians. Massey went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Sunday's 8-5 loss to the Yankees. Massey now has three homers in his last three games after going 24 contests without a long ball. Even with his recent power surge, it's been a tough month at the plate for the 25-year-old Massey -- he's gone 9-for-46 with a .669 OPS in 14 games since the start of July. Overall, the 25-year-old second baseman is slashing .213/.267/.343 with seven homers, 29 RBI, 19 runs scored and three steals across 251 plate appearances this season.... See More ... See Less -

Massey went 2-for-5 with a pair of doubles Monday in the Royals' 5-4 extra-inning loss to the Reds. Massey put an end to a nine-game stretch in which he failed to produce an extra-base hit while going 3-for-29 overall. Though Massey has seen his OPS drop 87 points from 2022 (.683 to .596), the 25-year-old still looks to be fairly secure in a near-everyday role either at second base or designated hitter.... Jeffrey Flanagan@FlannyMLB18D agoGreat reporting here. But until MLB fixes the economic disparity (salary cap/floor) taxpayers shouldn’t pay for renovation of the K or a new stadium. Waste of money. A new Royals stadium will be expensive. Fixing a crumbling Kauffman Stadium will be too https://t.co/kPA23UcwEc

Rustin Dodd@rustindodd27D agoEight years ago tonight, the Royals won the World Series in New York. If you would have asked: What happens first? The Royals return to the playoffs or one of the players on the team becomes a GM and builds a World Series winner? I think everyone would have gotten it wrong.
