Massey isn't starting Friday against the Nationals. With southpaw Patrick Corbin slated to take the mound for Washington, the left-handed bat of Massey will begin Friday's contest in the dugout. Matt Duffy will take over as the Royals' second baseman and bat leadoff.... See More ... See Less

Royals' Michael Massey: Heads to bench Wednesday
Massey is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Tigers. Massey has been in the lineup nearly every day for the Royals this season, but he holds a weak .216/.265/.313 batting line through 147 plate appearances. Matt Duffy will cover second base Wednesday and take a turn out of the leadoff spot.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Cranks two-run home run
Massey went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Sunday's loss against the White Sox. Massey drove in the only two runs scored by the Royals on Sunday, taking Lance Lynn yard for a two-run homer in the second inning that scored Edward Olivares. After going homerless in his first 30 games of 2023, Massey has clubbed three long balls in his last 11 appearances to raise his slash line to .213/.259/.307 on the year.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Gets Tuesday off
Massey is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres. Massey has been excellent in May with a .343/.455/.571 slash line in 35 at-bats, but he'll get a night off against Seth Lugo and San Diego on Tuesday. Matt Duffy will start at second base and hit seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Homers in second straight game
Massey went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 4-3 win over the White Sox. Massey opened the scoring with a solo shot to right field. It was his second consecutive game with a long ball after he failed to go deep in his first 30 contests this season. Massey showed some pop with 21 homers in High-A ball in 2021 and 20 between the minors and majors last year, but he's largely struggled this season with a .225/.274/.314 slash line and a 33.6 percent strikeout rate.... Royals' Michael Massey: Posts steal Saturday
Massey went 1-for-2 with two walks and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-4 loss to the Athletics. Massey has hit safely in his last three games, going 4-for-8 with four walks, one RBI and three runs scored in that span. After a rough first few weeks of the season, the second baseman is slowly turning things around. He was batting just .115 on April 21, but he's up to .191 now. Massey has added two steals, six RBI, seven runs scored and two doubles with no home runs over 28 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting Sunday against Twins
Massey is not in the starting lineup Sunday against the Twins. Massey has just one hit over his last four games while going 1-for-14 in the process. The infielder will take a seat with Matt Duffy getting the start at second base Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Two more hits Tuesday
Massey went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Massey drove in a run in the fifth to extend the Royals' lead to 3-1. The 25-year-old now has three straight multi-hit games, but after that is still slashing just .188/.182/.203 with no homers, five RBI, four runs scored and a 0:23 BB:K over 66 plate appearances. The lack of plate discipline is certainly alarming, but perhaps Massey could be finding his way the at the dish with his recent hitting production.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Two hits, steal in loss
Massey went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Angels. Massey's poor start to the year has cost him the chance to hold down a starting role at second base. He was benched a couple of times against right-handed pitchers over the last week, but he's started versus two straight righties and even earned a look against southpaw Reid Detmers in Sunday's contest. Massey has a lackluster .143/.138/.161 slash line with four RBI, three runs scored, one double and one steal through 58 plate appearances. With Matt Duffy starting the year hot and Nicky Lopez still in the mix at the keystone, Massey will need to quickly build on this game to maintain his playing time.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Not in lineup Tuesday
Massey is absent from the Royals' lineup for Tuesday's contest against the Blue Jays. Nicky Lopez will cover second base while Massey takes a seat versus southpaw Yusei Kikuchi. It's the second off day this season for Massey, who was also on the bench over the weekend against a righty.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Not in Saturday's lineup
Massey will be on the bench Saturday against the Twins. Massey batted sixth and played second base in the season opener but finished the day 0-for-4 with a pair of strikeouts. Nicky Lopez will take over at the keystone in the second game of the year.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Officially day-to-day
Massey is officially listed as day-to-day with an ankle contusion. After fouling a ball off his foot during Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Massey easily could have suffered a much worse fate. Luckily, he may only need to miss a day or two, and the 24-year-old infielder should still be able to start Opening Day for the Royals.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Exits game early
Massey left Wednesday's spring training game against the White Sox after fouling a ball off his foot, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Massey appeared to be in a great deal of pain, but luckily, he was able to limp off the field on his own. Currently projected to be the Royals' primary second baseman, the team will perform a further evaluation of Massey's injury, which should provide an idea of whether Massey will be able to start on Opening Day.... Royals' Michael Massey: Hitting well in spring
Massey has gone 5-for-18 with two home runs, four RBI and four runs scored through six Cactus League games. Massey hit just .243 with a .683 OPS, four home runs, 17 RBI and three stolen bases in 52 contests as a rookie last season. His solid spring, in terms of both making contact and showing some power, gives him an edge to start at second base over Nicky Lopez, who is hitless through six at-bats in the spring. Massey totaled 20 homers and 16 steals over three levels of baseball last year, so he could have some all-around appeal in fantasy if he can hit well.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Out of Sunday's lineup
Massey is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Guardians. Massey is 5-for-21 with two home runs, a double, five RBI and four runs over his past five games but will take a seat for Sunday's contest. Nicky Lopez will start at the keystone in the series finale at Cleveland.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Homers, scores twice in loss
Massey went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and an additional run scored in Friday's 6-3 loss to the Guardians. Massey reached on an error and scored on a Drew Waters homer in the third inning before adding a solo shot of his own in the fifth. Massey received steady playing time in September, hitting .236 with three homers, a steal, six RBI and 10 runs scored across 20 games. He's at a .247/.314/.392 slash line with four long balls, 15 RBI, 16 runs scored and three steals across 48 contests to begin his big-league career.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Missing from Thursday's lineup
Massey is not in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Tigers. Massey has been getting chances to show what he can do against left-handed pitchers, but he will not be in there Thursday against southpaw Eduardo Rodriguez after going just 6-for-38 (.158) over his last nine games. Nicky Lopez will man the keystone in Massey's place.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Homers in high-scoring win
Massey went 2-for-4 with a home run, four RBI and two runs during Sunday's 13-12 win over the Royals. Although the Mariners and Royals combined to score 25 runs during Sunday's matchup, Massey had the only home run of the game with his two-run blast in the bottom of the sixth inning. Although the 24-year-old's performance Sunday was encouraging, he's struggled at the plate recently, going just 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts over his four games leading up to Sunday's win.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Out of lineup
Massey will sit Saturday against Seattle. Massey has been starting regularly since early August, but he now finds himself on the bench for the second time in three games. His .248/.323/.362 line through his first 44 major-league games doesn't make a great case for everyday at-bats, and he's gone just 1-for-16 with seven strikeouts in his last four appearances. Nicky Lopez will start at second base Saturday.... See More ... See Less -
Royals' Michael Massey: Sitting out Tuesday
Massey is not in the Royals' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Twins, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports. Massey will get a breather after going 1-for-3 with a home run and a walk in Sunday's win over Detroit. Nicky Lopez will cover for Massey at second base while Nate Eaton picks up a start at third, batting sixth.... See More ... See Less

Kansas City Royals@Royals11D ago“I’m the one asking questions here.” 😂 @CapFed Junior Broadcaster Cameron put Michael Massey on the hot seat.

Jeffrey Flanagan@FlannyMLB12/31/1969This idea comes from fellow Cheesehead @MichaelJMally1 but I like it: Obviously massive contractual/financial hurdles but what about Aaron Rodgers/Mike McCarthy reunion? They have reconciled. And Dak is not the future in Dallas. Jerry Jones would love the attention of a 12 trade.

Jeffrey Flanagan@FlannyMLB12/31/1969So ESPN’s Scott Van Pelt just had some serious football questions and he asked Aikman them and ignored Joe Buck, who somewhat jokingly acted insulted, but it is obvious they don’t take Buck seriously. Nor do I. Tirico, Michaels and Nantz are the gold standard.
