  • Mariners' Junior Lake: Headed to minors

Lake was sent to minor-league camp Sunday, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

  • Mariners' Junior Lake: Agrees to terms with Seattle

Lake signed a minor-league deal with the Mariners on Wednesday, which includes an invitation to spring training, Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reports.

Lake spent the 2017 season with Triple-A Pawtucket within the Red Sox's system, but only played in 19 games, slashing .246/.292/.311 with one RBI and two stolen bases. The 27-year-old has prior major-league experience, which includes a 2014 season when he appeared in 108 games for the Cubs, although he's never been able to find his groove in the big leagues. Moving forward, he will provide added outfield depth for Seattle and will likely begin the 2018 campaign in Triple-A Tacoma.

  • Red Sox's Junior Lake: To Red Sox on minor league deal

Lake signed a minor league contract with the Red Sox on Friday, SB Nation's Chris Cotillo reports.

Lake spent 2016 with the Blue Jays, where he hit .231 in 318 plate appearances over 82 games with Triple-A Buffalo. He hit .284 in 254 major league plate appearances back in 2013, but he hasn't hit over .211 in any major league season since then. He'll simply serve as organizational depth in 2017 and figures to spend most of the season in Triple-A.

  • Blue Jays' Junior Lake: Designated for assignment

Lake was designated for assignment Tuesday, Blue Jays broadcaster Mike Wilner reports.

Lake was called up for the second time this season last week, but he tallied just one at-bat over five games since, so the Blue Jays decided to remove him from the roster to open up a spot for returning fellow outfielder Ezequiel Carrera.

  • Blue Jays' Junior Lake: Outrighted to Triple-A

Lake was outrighted to Triple-A Buffalo on Sunday, Shi Dividi of Sportsnet reports.

After being designated for assignment last week, Lake cleared waivers as expected, and will stick with the Blue Jays organization as outfield depth at the Triple-A level. Now that he's no longer on the 40-man roster, Lake will have a more difficult time earning his way back to Toronto in the event an extra outfielder is needed.

  • Blue Jays' Junior Lake: DFA'd Monday to clear space

Lake was designated for assignment Monday.

With Jose Bautista (toe) coming off the DL, the Jays needed to clear a spot on the roster, so Lake will be the casualty. The outfielder failed to impress in 19 games for Toronto on the season, hitting just .206 with a .289 OBP. He'll now be subject to waivers and figures to land at Triple-A Buffalo if he passes through unclaimed.

  • Blue Jays' Junior Lake: Not doing enough to stick around long

Lake played in 13 first-half games for this season, going 5-for-19 (.263) with a home run and two doubles while posting a .391 OBP.

The 26-year-old outfielder lost the battle in spring training with Ezequiel Carrera to be the team's fourth outfielder, but was called up on June 24 to fill in as a reserve with Jose Bautista (toe) on the shelf. Lake has offered quality service to the big league team but not to fantasy owners. With Carrera in the midst of a career year, Lake has no chance of passing him on the depth chart any time soon. In all likelihood, Lake will be headed back to Triple-A Buffalo once Bautista returns in the coming weeks.

Lake went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI Wednesday against the Rockies.

With runners on first and second in the second inning, Lake hit an RBI double to right field as the Blue Jays took an early 1-0 lead. It was Lake's third hit in seven at-bats since he was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo late last week. He slotted in for Michael Saunders (rest), but will likely return to the bench for Thursday's matchup with the Indians.

  • Blue Jays' Junior Lake: Claimed by Blue Jays

Lake was claimed by the Blue Jays on Friday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.

Lake was DFA'd by the Orioles a week ago after splitting time between Triple-A and Baltimore over the final few months of the season. The outfielder will likely begin the season in Triple-A for the Jays organization, and he's unlikely to make a significant impact at the major league level in 2016.

  • Orioles' Junior Lake: Designated for assignment

Lake was designated for assignment by the Orioles on Thursday.

He rode the shuttle between Triple-A and Baltimore over the final couple months after the Cubs cut bait, logging all of 22 plate appearances in three separate stints with the big club. Given his contact woes and struggles against same-handed pitching, Lake seems likely to receive limited opportunities wherever he lands next.
