Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch turned in a very good practice Sunday, with coach Pete Carroll saying afterward that Lynch is in "great shape" and "just as fit as he ever has been," reports ESPN.com. Lynch ran hard and looked "like the man who has been one of the NFL’s best running back the last three seasons," the report said.

"He’s getting a lot closer," Carroll said. "He had a very good practice [Sunday]. We’re just trying to do it properly. I really liked the way he got after it.

"He got stuff in all phases of the practice. He caught some balls well, blocked well and ran the ball real nice. So a really good first day. This is the first week he has a chance to really compete. He brought a great attitude [Sunday]."

Carroll said Lynch's weight is "way down" and that he won't need many preseason carries to get ready for the regular-season opener.
