The 2021 Tour Championship concluded Sunday with Patrick Cantlay finishing one shot ahead of Jon Rahm to win the FedEx Cup Playoffs and capture the $15 million grand prize. Cantlay, who won the BMW Championship in a six-hole playoff over Bryson DeChambeau just last week, captured back-to-back events to end the 2020-21 PGA Tour season and is now the leader in the clubhouse for player of the year honors.

The figures up for grabs Sunday were startling. The winner of the Tour Championship, Cantlay, netted $15 million. If you make it to the final event at all, you're guaranteed $395,000, even if you finish 30th or withdraw like Brooks Koepka. Everyone who made it to the BMW Championship was guaranteed at least $140,000. Heck, everyone who finished in the top 125 was guaranteed at least $101,000. And all of that is on top of what the tournaments themselves pay out. Add it all up, and FedEx is giving out $60 million in bonus funds to the best players in the world.

Here's a breakdown of the prize money payouts for the top 30 golfers at the end of the Tour Championship. When Cantlay and Rahm were competing on the 72nd hole Sunday, there was a $10 million differential hanging on every shot they took.
