There were a lot of impressive individual performances across the country this weekend, but there's a good chance you didn't see the best one of all.

It's not often that a defensive back finishes with more receiving yards* than the offense he's facing, but that's what Utah State's Jalen Davis did against BYU on Friday night, and that's why he's our National Player of the Week.

National Player of the Week

Jalen Davis, CB, Utah State: OK, so Davis didn't really have any receiving yards against BYU. At least, not in the manner we're accustomed to. Instead, Davis intercepted three passes against BYU in a 40-24 win on Friday night, returning them for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

No BYU player finished with more than 40 yards receiving, and only one had more than three receptions.

SEC Player of the Week

Jarret Stidham, QB, Auburn: The Auburn defense has been fantastic all season long, but the offense has turned a corner the last couple of weeks, as the Tigers have scored 100 points in their last two games.

Stidham has been a big reason why, as he threw for 264 yards and two touchdowns in Auburn's 49-10 win over Mississippi State Saturday night.

Freshman of the Week

Malik Davis, RB, Florida: Jim McElwain and the Gators have had a revolving door at quarterback this season, but I think they may have finally solved the problem: just hand the ball off to Malik Davis.

The freshman back rushed for 124 yards and two touchdowns, helping to pave the way for Florida's 38-24 win over Vanderbilt.

SEC Scholar Athletes

Kyle Phillips, DL, Tennessee: The Vols defensive lineman is a Recreation and Sport Management major, and he sports a 3.34 GPA. He was a member of the 2015-16 SEC Academic honor roll, is a Vol Scholar, a member of the VOLeaders Academy and he studied abroad in Vietnam this summer.

Aaron Davis, DB, Georgia: Davis is a Finance major with a 3.45 GPA, but while he's excelled in the classroom at Georgia, his work off the field may be even more impressive. Davis is one of 11 D-I players named to 2017 AFCA national Good Works team for commitment to community service. He helps out in numerous programs at the school, as well as at food banks in Georgia, Alabama and Tennessee.
