Who says bloggers can't make a difference?
Witness, Cork Gaines at RaysIndex.com, who has changed baseball for the better in one simple blog post.
Gaines and the fine folks at RaysIndex.com kept track of B.J. Upton's performance based on how he chose to wear his uniform each day. Upton had three basic ways of wearing his pants -- long (bad), short with solid navy socks (better) and short with stirrups (best).
The results? With the pajama pants, he was hitting .263 with a .665 OPS, with solid blue socks, .303 with a .869 OPS and in traditional, beautiful stirrups, he's hitting .318 with a .938 OPS.
So, RaysIndex went on Twitter and posted their results and lo and behold, Upton responded.
Bless you Mr. Gaines and RaysIndex.com for improving baseball -- two (beautifully striped) stirrups at a time. Now, if you can just explain proper blousing to Upton...@RaysIndex I never expected my uniform choice to be broken down lol but as an FYI I will be wearing pants up and stirrups the rest of season
