The Orioles and outfielder Nolan Reimold have agreed to a one-year, $1 million contract, avoiding an arbitration hearing.
Despite missing most of last season, Reimold more than doubles his salary with this deal.
Reimold got off to a great start with the Orioles in 2012, as he hit .313/.333/.627 with five home runs in his first 16 games. However, forced to the bench with neck spasms, Reimold didn't play after April 30 and underwent season-ending surgery for a herniated disk in his neck. He made $490,500.
Reimold has never played a full season, but the 29-year-old has been solid over his four years in the majors. He'll carry a career .261/.338/.455 batting line (111 OPS+) into 2013, albeit in just 246 games.
Baltimore has eight players still eligible to file for arbitration Tuesday: catcher Matt Wieters; right-handers Tommy Hunter, Jason Hammel, Jim Johnson and Darren O'Day; left-handers Brian Matusz and Troy Patton; and infielder Chris Davis.
